Chapter 34 - Pass Judgement

I surveyed the damage we'd wreaked on the rogues, while my mind ran through different scenarios and my wolf purred in satisfaction. I didn't know what came over me when I decided to attack instead of hide, but I loved and enjoyed every moment of it. I loved the way my body still thrummed with power, with muscle memory I didn't know I had.

Around me, my warriors began securing the area, dragging the bodies together, checking for survivors.

"Alpha," a voice called. "This one is still alive. He seems to be one of their leaders."

Perfect.

"Take him," I nodded at Tala. "We'll need all the information we can get."

I was purposely ignoring Jaxon, yet I was still aware of him. Something about his sudden decision to "help" me gnawed at the edges of my thoughts. If he had stepped into my path today, it was because he had something to gain, and I would not be caught unguarded. Never again.
