Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Good Luck Arrives

The underworld crew finally finished filming in October and returned to Los Angeles.

At the Beverly Hills Peninsula Hotel, a party was underway, with countless handsome men and beautiful women mingling, and waiters bustling to keep up.

"Naomi, good evening!"

"Charles, you're here too!"

"You must be very busy this year, with several films to shoot," Charles asked Naomi Watts, whom he encountered at the venue.

Naomi Watts, in a bright yellow gown with golden hair and fair skin, was very well-preserved for a 34-year-old.

"the ring is about to be released, so I specifically came back for the promotion. I filmed two movies, '21 Grams' and 'Happy Co-op,' and just returned from France."

"Next month, I'll start filming 'The Kelly Gang,' both are art-house films."

Naomi Watts might have been too idle in the previous few years. For films like 'Happy Co-op' and 'The Kelly Gang,' she played supporting roles, which Evelyn generally advised against as a waste of time.

One film like '21 Grams' would have been enough, but Naomi believed she could handle it.

"That's not bad," Charles knew that Naomi Watts had gained some influence and didn't want to waste time, as she wasn't getting any younger.

The number of her works was pitifully small!

"By the way, Charles, you've already been involved in the production of three films. Recently, I received a script for a low-budget independent romance film. The production company doesn't have much funding to develop it, and they've invited me to be a producer. What do you think?"

Charles was stunned. Was this a nominal producer role?

"Investors and distributors, those are the two main problems to solve. With limited funds, the main creative personnel involved should all be newcomers. Now that you have some recognition, they probably hope to leverage you to attract distributors for support," Charles offered his opinion.

"If you think it's good, you can try it. You can also wait until it's filmed and look for distributors through film festivals!"

However, she probably knew how many such films fail in Hollywood every year. Not to mention the salary, which would essentially be non-existent.

Spending a few months participating in the production of a film to gain some experience isn't bad.

"I also asked Nicole. She just supported a film, 'The Cut,' as a producer, distributed by Mubao Pictures, as you know. However, she didn't participate in acting but invested money," Naomi Watts didn't think the script was particularly good, just average, but she wanted to try.

"Take your time to consider it. At least finish your current projects first," Charles suggested, as Naomi Watts's fame was still not great. Before 'King Kong' was released, she only had some recognition within the art-house film circle.

"Alright, the ring premiere will be held on the 18th at Universal City. Can you come? We can see how the movie is then," Naomi invited.

Charles nodded and smiled, "I've seen the original Japanese version. From the trailer, the American version excels in visuals, with more special effects. It makes sense that Disney's blockbuster pirates of the caribbean: the curse of the black pearl chose Gore Verbinski as its director after he finished filming this one."

"This is about the cultural differences between East and West. Eastern horror focuses on atmosphere and sensory experience, while Western horror emphasizes the impact of visual effects. It's hard to say which is better; it depends on the audience's choice."

"However, the ring has a certain influence worldwide, especially significant in the Eastern market. With DreamWorks remaking it, the audience base is already quite good."

Naomi also smiled, "Evelyn also reminded me to pay attention to commercial film choices. To increase influence and recognition, you still need commercial films."

"Art-house films have a small scope and rarely generate high box office to spread influence. The widespread promotion of commercial films can quickly establish recognition. Just look at Angelina Jolie. Before lara croft: tomb raider, her influence wasn't significant. After lara croft: tomb raider, she gained influence worldwide!" Angelina Jolie has not received many awards since then, only an oscar best actress winner from two years ago, and she will win a Golden Globe Awards for Best actress in a Drama later.

But isn't Angelina Jolie's influence far greater than some oscar best actress winners?

However, Naomi Watts is British, not American. The pinnacle for foreign actresses is Australia's finest product, Nicole Kidman.

"Charles, let me introduce you to some Australian friends. You know, I moved to Australia when I was little," Naomi Watts changed the subject.

"Oh, sure!"

Subsequently, Naomi Watts introduced a man and a woman to Charles Capet.

"Heath Ledger, Isla Fisher!"

"Hello, I'm Charles Capet!"

Heath Ledger, 23, and Isla Fisher, 2, were both very young. However, Heath Ledger had been working in Hollywood for three or four years, starring in several films, and had a certain level of popularity.

Isla Fisher, on the other hand, was still very unknown, but she seemed to be a writer and had published books.

"Nice to meet you, Charles," Heath Ledger and Isla Fisher also smiled and greeted him. A 20-year-old film producer who had produced three films, the first of which to be released was this year's box office dark horse, my big fat greek wedding, was no simple feat.

"Heath, your performance is very impactful. I've seen your acting, it's excellent!" Charles genuinely praised him. He was a method actor, the type who goes all out or nothing.
