Leon's Pov:
I woke up before Ava did, just lying there and staring at the ceiling.
I turned my head slightly to look at her. She was still asleep, facing away from me, one hand tucked under the pillow like she always did.
I didn't realize she was awake until she shifted.
"You're staring again," she murmured.
"I wasn't," I said.
She turned around slowly, eyes still half closed.
"You were."
"Maybe a little."
She smiled faintly and stretched.
"What time is it?"
"Early."
She sat up slightly, brushing her hair back with her fingers.
"Are we leaving today?"
I hesitated.
"I was thinking we could stay a bit longer," I said. "Extend it."
She didn't respond immediately, which already told me what she was going to say.
"Leon…" she started.
"I know what you're going to say."
"Then why are you still saying it?"
"Because I don't want to go back yet."
She looked at me properly now, more awake.
"We can't just avoid everything forever."
"I'm not avoiding anything."
