Leon's Pov:
The ride back to the suite was uncomfortable.
Ava sat beside me, her hands resting on her lap, occasionally glancing out the window like she had something on her mind but wasn't sure how to bring it up.
I already knew it was about Caroline. I just didn't know exactly what she was thinking.
I feared speaking up mostly because I just didn't know if I was ready to talk about her, or any other person or thing involved with my family.
I wasn't ready to bring her into it, and neither was I ready to open old scars.
By the time we got back, I stepped out first and walked around to open her door, but she was already out, smoothing down her dress like she needed something to do with her hands.
We walked inside together, side by side, not touching.
The silence followed us in. But the moment the door closed behind us, she finally spoke.
"You didn't tell me you had a sister."
Her tone wasn't accusing.
That's what made it worse.
I turned to her slowly.
