Chapter 74 - Chapter 74: She’s Really Strong

The instant Tokai Teio barged into the student council room with her ears pinned back and started interrogating her, Eternal Meteor's "world-class genius" kicked in.

Her solution was simple:

Shift the attention.

If she created an even bigger incident, nobody would care about the "why didn't you reply" issue anymore.

So when she stood up from the wheelchair, it wasn't because Teio scared her.

It was deliberate.

She took a few steps forward on purpose—just far enough that Chihiro Representative wouldn't be able to reach her in time—then "accidentally" let her dragging foot slide into a cable on the floor, staging a convincing stumble.

There. Now who's going to care about chat logs?

And if Teio didn't catch her?

…So what?

Catching her or not wasn't the point. The fall itself was.

Face-first on the ground would hurt more, sure, but as long as she protected her nose with a hand, it was fine.

As long as it wasn't a full fracture, to Eternal Meteor it barely counted as an injury at all.

She was, by her own assessment:

The Supreme Queen of Falling Over.

But after Teio caught her, something went… off-script.

Meteor expected Teio to set her back in the wheelchair immediately, then have Rudolf and the others lecture her about "taking care of yourself."

Instead, she felt drops landing on her head.

…Liquid.

Teio was crying.

Meteor's brain short-circuited.

Wait. Why is she crying this easily?! I wasn't trying to make her cry!! This is literally my fault!

She tried to soothe her with gentle pats.

It backfired.

The sobbing got worse—full-on "wuh wuh" sounds right by her ear.

Pressed against Teio's chest, Meteor could hear a frantic heartbeat pounding like a drum.

And then the arms tightened.

Tighter.

Like Teio was trying to squeeze Meteor straight into her own body.

Meteor's lungs started filing formal complaints.

She tried to struggle—

Teio hugged harder, crying into her ear the whole time like Meteor had already died.

Meteor's internal scream was immediate and sincere:

Rudolf, save me!!! I'm about to get "hugged-to-death"!! Why is Teio so strong?!

Fortunately, Rudolf and Chihiro Representative weren't decorative background characters.

"Teio—let go of Meteor."

They pried her off and finally rescued Eternal Meteor from the "bear hug execution."

Teio, hands forced open, stared blankly for a moment—first at Meteor, now panting hard in her wheelchair, then down at her own palms.

A strange hollowness washed over her.

Like losing something.

Like that weightless drop after stepping off a ledge.

It felt wrong.

Her vision went up again and she met Rudolf's stern face—only then did Teio fully realize what she'd just done.

Tears surged again. Her ears drooped forward, soft and defeated.

"I—I'm sorry, President… Meteor… she's okay, right?"

The scolding she expected didn't come.

Instead, Rudolf's warm hand stroked the top of her head, voice gentle.

"Thanks to you, Teio—Meteor didn't fall."

"Yeah, yeah!" Meteor joined in quickly, nodding hard—

which, naturally, redirected Rudolf's full attention onto her.

Rudolf crossed the distance in three steps, then—right in front of everyone, including a stunned Chihiro Representative—knelt down and inspected the brace and straps on Meteor's leg for looseness.

Chihiro Representative nearly forgot how to blink.

That "Emperor" was famous for being a tyrant on the track.

And now she was… this soft?

Even Air Groove quietly felt it: since Teio, and now Meteor, Rudolf's expressions had become more human—more varied.

She sighed, then went back to sorting the remaining documents.

Teio hovered close, tense, waiting for Meteor to speak.

Meteor slapped her own chest—loud—trying to sell confidence.

"How could I be hurt? I'm crazy sturdy!"

Rudolf's stare sharpened.

"Then what's with your leg?"

"Uh… accident. Accident..."

Meteor decided to keep playing it up—look a little "defeated," act like she'd been caught—anything to pull Teio out of the crying spiral and back into her normal self.

It worked.

Teio's mood finally lifted, even if only a little.

Meteor seized the moment like a professional.

She picked up the controller, smiled, and held it out to Teio.

"Teio—wanna play too?"

Teio's answer came instantly.

"Yeah!"

And in Meteor's head, a ridiculous victory jingle played:

Legendary chest acquired.
