Chapter 75 - Chapter 75: Hard to Tell

"Take this!"

Out in first place, Tokai Teio assumed Eternal Meteor was about to use an item. She locked her eyes on the screen, refusing to get distracted—ready to react to anything Meteor tried.

She never imagined Meteor's "move" would be reaching out with one hand and going straight for Teio's waist.

Tickle attack.

"HAHA—Meteor! That's cheating—hahaha!"

The effect was immediate. Completely unprepared for a real-world assault, Teio's kart slammed into the wall, bleeding speed fast.

"I've always respected only victory! However I win, it's still my win! Teio, you're still too green!"

Eternal Meteor seized the opening, shot past Teio, and reclaimed first place. She was so pleased she started swaying her head side to side, her white ears whipping with the motion like they were dancing.

She didn't notice that Teio had already put her controller down.

Two small hands rose into the air behind her, fingers flexing open and shut.

If I can't win… then you're not getting away unpunished either.

"What?!"

Teio slipped behind Eternal Meteor's wheelchair. Both hands landed on Meteor's waist at the same time, and her nimble fingers started working up and down.

"I will never yield—mmgh… haha—wait—HAHA—okay, okay, I'm sorry, I'M SORRY—Teio, stop! Stop! Hahaha—please!"

Meteor tried to grit it out and finish the race, but Teio's feather-light, relentless tickling cracked her instantly. Even when she tossed the controller aside and tried to grab Teio's wrists, she couldn't pry them off no matter how hard she pushed.

In the end, she gave up completely and started begging for mercy.

Teio had no intention of stopping.

A few scratches at the waist—then a quick attack under the arms—sending Meteor squirming in her seat.

"I won! Hell yeah!"

The sudden cheer made the two of them freeze mid-wrestle. They turned their heads in perfect sync and stared blankly at Chihiro Representative, who was holding her controller up in celebration.

"I endured all that for this moment!" Chihiro crowed. "Caught you off guard, didn't I?"

She even flashed a V-sign and waggled it at them, tongue out—pure provocation.

Eternal Meteor and Teio looked at each other.

No words needed.

They turned back to Chihiro, both wearing the same villainous smile.

"Y-you two… what are you doing?"

Chihiro immediately started scooting backward on the floor, bracing herself with her hands.

Too late.

Teio pinned her in place, and the not-so-mobile Eternal Meteor took over the tickling.

"Teio, let go—HAHA—no, no, STOP—ahahaha—dame!"

At the desk, Air Groove finished sorting the documents, watched the scene, and pressed a hand to her forehead.

You're a Triple Crown horse girl. And you're telling me you can't break free? Who's buying that?

No dignity. Not a shred. Is this really how seniors are supposed to set an example?

"Okay. Meteor. Teio. Time for dinner."

Symboli Rudolf glanced at the clock on the wall. Letting Meteor have fun was good—but not at the cost of skipping meals.

"Okaaay~"

They answered in unison, then released Chihiro—who was laughing so hard she'd started cramping.

Once Chihiro recovered, she stood up, smoothed out her clothes, and prepared to take Teio and Meteor to the cafeteria.

"And while you're at it," Rudolf added, "bring dinner back for me and Air Groove."

If only Teio went to buy food, Eternal Meteor would almost certainly roll herself back to the dorm alone—and Rudolf refused to allow that.

From everything she'd seen, Meteor didn't treat her injury as an injury at all. If there was any way to prevent her from being alone, Rudolf would take it.

"Got it! I'll bring it back!" Chihiro said, pumping a fist. Her other hand moved to push Eternal Meteor's wheelchair. "Come on, Teio! Meteor! Let's go!"

"And bring one for Chihiro too."

"…Huh?"

Chihiro's neck turned toward Rudolf with stiff, creaking inevitability, like a rusty robot. Her expression froze solid.

"Chihiro, you stay," Rudolf said evenly. "You've relaxed enough. Help us finish the paperwork."

Chihiro's shoulders slumped as she trudged back to the desk.

She knew better than to resist. Resisting the president never ended with less work.

"President," Teio raised a hand, "couldn't I just take Meteor back to the dorm first, then bring the food back?"

She didn't want Meteor making an extra trip while injured.

"I don't feel comfortable leaving her alone in the dorm," Rudolf replied. "We won't be here too late. When we're done, I'll go back with her."

She turned and smiled at Eternal Meteor, then pointed at the game console.

"And you can play a bit more while you wait."

Teio barely heard that last part.

Her attention snagged on a single word:

with.

After a long beat, she nodded silently and wheeled Eternal Meteor out of the student council room.

Under the warm light of the late afternoon sun—already sinking toward the horizon—the two traveled in quiet, the only sound the steady roll of wheelchair wheels over the path.

"…It's nice," Teio said suddenly, tilting her head back to admire the flaming clouds through the leaves.

"What? You mean me sharing a room with the president?"

Teio's steps faltered. She hesitated for a moment, then gave a small "Mm," and kept walking.

"Teio, don't get the wrong idea—listen." Eternal Meteor's ears flicked. She started explaining quickly, words spilling out like gunfire. "I'm only in her dorm because I enrolled late and there weren't any rooms left. That's all."

"Oh! Then that's pretty lucky~"

Hearing Teio's usual bright tone return, Eternal Meteor finally let out the breath she'd been holding.

Good. Teio was a good kid. As long as you explained it clearly, it wasn't a big deal.

"There's nothing lucky about it," Meteor continued, determined to stamp out any lingering jealousy—quietly apologizing to Rudolf in her heart while she complained out loud. "Lights-out comes early, you have to go to bed on time, rules all the time… it's no different than living with any ordinary roommate."

"Ahahaha!"

Behind her, Teio laughed like a ringing bell as Meteor piled on little stories about the "rule-heavy" dorm life.

But even Teio couldn't quite tell anymore.

That "lucky" she'd murmured just now—

Had she meant Eternal Meteor?

Or had she meant the president?
