Chapter 73 - Chapter 73: All According to Plan

Rudolf set her phone down with a puzzled look.

Teio had asked where Meteor was—then went completely silent.

Even Rudolf's follow-up messages were still marked unread.

She lifted her gaze toward Eternal Meteor, who was still messing around with Chihiro Representative in the student council room.

Whatever Teio was up to, it felt safer to warn Meteor first.

"Meteor."

"Hm? What is it, President?" Rudolf

Meteor immediately dropped the controller and spun her wheelchair around to face her—

"HAHAHA! I won!"

—only to get instantly punished by Chihiro Representative, who'd been waiting for that exact moment. She KO'd the AFK Meteor in one clean sequence, then kicked her feet in the air like a kid who'd just won candy.

Eternal Meteor didn't care.

Win or lose—she'd already farmed enough matches today. Besides, turning the wheelchair took effort.

Rudolf, on the other hand, was wearing the kind of "I'm going to assign you ten times more paperwork later" expression reserved for repeat offenders.

She raised her phone and waved it.

"Teio seems to be looking for you."

Oh no.

Meteor's face went pale.

Is it already spreading? The princess carry rumor? That fast?

But then another thought hit—

Why didn't my phone vibrate?

She frantically patted every pocket, then remembered: she'd tossed her phone onto the sofa earlier.

She unlocked it and—surprisingly—saw nothing but worried messages.

She exhaled.

Then immediately tensed up again.

Wait. How does Teio even know I'm back at school?

Meteor started typing a careful probe—

knock knock.

The sound at the door snapped her ears upright.

Her throat went dry.

"Come in," Rudolf said.

The door opened slowly.

Tokai Teio stepped in.

Her ears were flattened like airplane wings. Her eyes were fixed on Meteor with unmistakable intensity—red around the rims, like she'd been holding something back for way too long.

"Teio… what's wrong?" Tokai Teio

Teio didn't answer Rudolf. She marched straight up to Meteor and demanded, loud and trembling with grievance:

"Why didn't you reply to my messages?!"

Chihiro Representative's eyes flicked back and forth between Teio and Meteor like she was watching the juiciest episode of a drama. The corners of her mouth curled upward in delighted anticipation.

Even Air Groove and Rudolf looked shaken.

This kind of anger was… not Teio.

Then Meteor did something that made Rudolf's blood run cold.

"Teio, calm down—let me explain."

As she spoke, Meteor stood up—without using crutches—straight out of the wheelchair, and tried to shuffle toward Teio on an injured leg.

Chihiro Representative's brain short-circuited.

Medical miracle?!

Teio also froze, all her anger evaporating on the spot.

And then—

Meteor's foot caught on something. A cable, a line, whatever it was—just enough.

Her body pitched forward.

Chihiro Representative jumped, reaching—

Too late.

"Meteor!" Rudolf shouted, already moving, but the few steps between them might as well have been a chasm.

But Teio was right there.

She didn't hesitate.

She lunged forward and caught Meteor, arms wrapping around her tightly.

Only after her body moved did Teio's mind catch up—

—and her chest filled instantly with regret.

If I hadn't stormed in… if I hadn't scared her… she wouldn't have stood up… she wouldn't have fallen…

"I—I'm sorry, Meteor… I didn't mean to… I wasn't trying to…"

Her words shook. Tears began to fall—heavy drops landing on the top of Meteor's head.

But her arms didn't loosen.

They tightened.

Meteor, face buried in Teio's chest, reached up and patted Teio's ear with a muffled voice.

"It's okay… I'm fine. It's my fault too…"

Which, unfortunately, made Teio cry even harder—and hug even tighter.

Meteor's thoughts turned abruptly practical.

Uh oh.

Am I about to get suffocated?

For the first time all day—

Eternal Meteor began to suspect her "plan" might have worked a little too well.
