My cheeks flamed at the innuendo, and I spluttered in surprise. Was this Alpha Gareth's sense of humor? Was he mocking me? Or was this a promise of what would happen during our wedding night?
My mind was whirling, stressed from all the possibilities that I missed the expression of incandescent rage on Caius's face. He was livid, the blood rushing up his throat and into his face. He took a step forward, but before he could do anything, there was a loud cracking sound.
Alpha Gareth had shifted into an enormous black wolf whose shadow enveloped me with no difficulty at all. His fur was thick and coarse, curling madly like overgrown vines on a wall, or the thick brambles that housed berries in summer.
I craned my neck up further to meet its eyes. Much like his human self, my fiancé's wolf also had frightening blood red eyes. I gulped as they turned their expectant gaze towards me.
