[IRIS POV]
"Your people?" Alpha Gareth asked, raising his eyebrow in curiosity. "He is one of yours?"
"Yes." I held my head up high challengingly, willing myself not to show weakness or fear. "He and his family have a blood debt with me. They are sworn to serve and protect me for as long as I shall live."
He held my gaze consideringly before finally nodding in acquiescence. "Since you have spoken up for them, I shall let them live." He turned to one of the wolves. "Lucas, check on his finger."
One of the wolves transformed back into a fearsome warrior. He didn't look like a healer― in fact, he seemed to look like someone who would gladly fix more bones by breaking them.
"I'm fine!" Martin cried out, cradling his finger protectively while trying to avoid the approaching warrior, an expression of barely concealed terror on his face. The man looked like he could snap Martin in half and use him as a toothpick. "I'll heal on my own!"
