I rushed towards Moonveil Lake without looking back, while constantly trying to contact Iris through the mindlink. However, all my efforts were futile. I should have been able to sense her wolf more easily since I was in my wolf form, but it was as though I had hit a brick wall, and she was standing far behind it.
It was simply too unnatural, and it sent warning bells ringing through my head. Even if Iris was furious with me, knowing her personality, she would have at least responded with a mental middle finger, telling me to fuck off.
To get nothing from her must mean that something was wrong. I tried to connect with Martin and his family, hoping to get a response or an explanation, but I hit multiple dead ends. My blood ran cold, and I pushed Atlas to go faster.
Atlas didn't complain; he wasn't calm either. He sprinted madly ahead without caring for stealth or his health.
