Finn Hawthorne awoke to the aroma of vegetable and minced pork congee.
He also smelled a hint of fried chicken.
"Didn't you say we were having congee?" He groggily opened his eyes and found Faye Vaughn sitting on the rug by the coffee table, happily digging in.
"You're having congee. I'm having fried chicken." Faye Vaughn beamed, a chicken wing in her right hand, which was covered by a disposable glove.
"Is this how you abuse your boyfriend?" Finn Hawthorne asked irritably.
"You have a fever, so you have to eat something light." Faye Vaughn put down the half-eaten chicken wing and pointed at the takeout spread on the coffee table. "I, on the other hand, am stuck with junk food."
Besides the Korean fried chicken, there was also kimchi bibimbap and beef soup.
She had also ordered strawberries and blueberries for herself.
Washed and arranged on a porcelain-white plate, they looked vibrant and mouth-watering.
"You sure treat yourself well..." Finn Hawthorne muttered.
