Faye Vaughn climbed out of the hospital bed.
She was wearing a hospital gown. The fabric was thin, and the collar couldn't hide her neck, where dark red marks were clearly visible on her pale skin.
Standing not far away, Vincent Hawthorne's gaze swept over her and paused. The tightness in his chest grew even heavier.
It wasn't hard to imagine the terrible ordeal she had been through.
Nowhere to turn for help, utterly hopeless and alone.
The fact that she had held on this long without breaking down or making a scene was a testament to her strength.
"Faye, are you sure you can do this?"
Finn Hawthorne walked in from outside. He had heard from his older brother that the kidnappers had been caught, and he looked at Faye Vaughn with concern.
But one look at her, and he froze.
Like Vincent Hawthorne, he saw the mottled marks on Faye Vaughn's neck.
