"No!" the vampire on the floor bared his fangs, his skin turning to dust and fading away into a skeleton. "Stop getting in my way!"
"You put Alucard in danger, of course, I will get in the way!" Skylar snapped. Then she turned to Alucard, her eyes softened, sorry for the action coming. "I'm sorry for your childhood room."
"What?" Alucard's voice shook as he spoke. Skylar's orbs of daylight confused Alucard until they burst into the room, causing destruction. Skylar never looked away from Alucard, her face etched with sorrow. Dracule, Trevor, and Sypha came out and saw what happened. Skylar didn't look away from Alucard.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you the whole truth," Skylar apologized to Alucard. "Once I'm done here, I'll explain everything to you."
Then, a shriek came from overhead. Skylar looked up, and a dark shadow covered the castle. The night creatures and vampires below screamed in pain.
"Fuck," Skylar panicked. "They're here!"
"Tara! Tanya!" Skylar called out. Tanya soared up, Tara on her back, staff in hand. "Cut the carcass in two. I am not leaving it to idiots like this man! And not to death either!"
"No!" the skeleton spirit Skylar called death screamed. Tara and Tanya wasted no time. Then they split the stitched body down the middle and took it. Skylar leaped off with them, the strands of hair in her hand keeping Dracula and Lisa Tepes's souls with her. The entire podium of that castle's room collapsed. Sypha moved back in time, Trevor and Saint Germain were with death. Skylar flew with Tara and Tanya. With a bright burst of sunlight, she took the incoming clan, day creatures, herself and the vampires on her side away. Unaware that Alucard, Dracule, and Elizabeth went with them. When the light vanished, they were in a split world. Half day, half night. A field of empty grass and fields. A podium of the day, where the day creatures and vampires on their side charged from. On the night side, an old, rundown hut of stone that was crumbling.
"Take them to the podium," Skylar told Tanya and Tara. "I will be there to finish this."
Tara and Tanya moved quickly, taking the male and female halves of the rebus body. Skylar looked at the hair strands dancing in the palm of her hand, then to the souls above her. She let out a breath and began to make her way to the podium, way ahead.
"Skylar!" Alucard's voice rang from behind her. Skylar froze, then turned quickly to face him.
"Alucard?!" Skylar nearly screamed, seeing Alucard, Dracule, and Elizabeth standing there. "What are you doing here — what are the three of you doing here?!"
"Skylar," Alucard took her free hand in his, placing his other hand on her cheek. "What is this? Why are you out here fighting for what looks like a war?"
"Alucard, please just — you have to go," Skylar begged. "I can't bring you into any more of my problems."
"Skylar," Alucard pulled her into him, holding her against his body and pressing his face into her hair. "You promised to stay with me, and I promised myself to love you as long as you let me stay."
"..." Skylar let out a shaky breath and looked up at Alucard. Alucard pulled away enough to look her in the eye. "... I'm sorry for what I am about to do."
"What?" Alucard looked into her eyes, trying to figure out what she was going to do, when a golden rose floated between them.
"Rise with the moon, set with the sun," Skylar said, then rose bushes with thorns shot up from the ground, forming a cage around Alucard, Dracule, and Elizabeth. Skylar looked at Alucard the entire time, tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry. For keeping things from you, for hiding details about what I am, what my clan's power is, for everything."
"Skylar," Alucard began, his voice shaking, his hands trembling against the cage. "What are you going to do? Why are you going this far?"
"... I'm going to end my clan's line, here and now," Skylar said, slowly backing away. "Because I love you too much to let them take you away from me... And my presence here endangered you and dragged you into this. I am not going to drag you into my problems anymore. So, this is goodbye..."
"Skylar," Alucard's voice trembled. Skylar shakily began to back away.
"I'm sorry," Skylar trembled. "But, I have to keep you safe... even if it hurts me this much to go."
"Skylar!" Alucard called after her as she ran towards the army in daylight.
