Chapter 12 - The Fire Behind the Broken

Chapter 12: The Fire Behind the Broken Door

The moment the doors of that chamber inside the Montclair Estate shut, the air grew unbearably heavy.

Elara stood in the center of the room—surrounded by traps, false accusations before her, and locked doors behind her.

But there was no fear in her eyes.

Only calculation.

Suddenly—

Heavy footsteps echoed outside the corridor.

The hallway trembled.

"Move."

A cold voice.

Young Master Kael Montclair.

The next second—

BANG!

A violent удар against the door.

Another one.

The door burst open as Kael stepped inside.

His eyes went directly to Seraphina.

"What is going on here?"

Lady Seraphina slowly turned toward him.

Not even her smile shifted.

"Calm yourself, Kael. This is merely an investigation."

Young Master Adrian Montclair, standing nearby, let out a faint laugh.

"Are you afraid of an investigation?"

Kael stepped forward.

There was no cold restraint left in his eyes now—

only fire.

"If you point your finger at Elara, this stops being an investigation."

"It becomes a war."

Elara stood silently at the side.

For the first time, she was seeing Kael like this—

his control breaking apart.

Seraphina spoke calmly.

"This girl is accused of treason."

She raised the document in her hand.

"We have evidence."

Kael glanced at the paper once.

Then he said quietly,

"You forged that evidence."

The entire room fell silent.

Adrian stepped forward.

"Are you questioning the laws of this estate?"

Kael looked at him.

"I'm questioning hypocrisy."

In a single moment, the atmosphere changed.

Elara's gaze stayed fixed on Kael.

She could feel it now—

the man standing here was no longer the same Kael as before.

Seraphina slowly raised her hand.

"If you wish to protect her, Kael… then you will answer for it as well."

Kael took another step forward.

His voice was low, but unmistakably firm.

"Then I'll answer."

Suddenly—

Two guards moved forward.

But Kael looked at them once.

Within a second, both stopped.

"I didn't come here to hurt anyone," Kael said.

His gaze shifted toward Elara.

"I'm taking her with me."

Adrian laughed.

"You alone?"

Kael gave no answer.

Only another step forward.

Elara slowly approached him.

"Kael…"

Kael looked at her.

This time, his voice softened—

but remained steady.

"Quiet. I'm getting you out of here."

Seraphina's eyes narrowed slightly.

"You're making a mistake."

Kael answered immediately.

"No."

"For the first time… I'm doing something right."

For a moment—

the room froze.

Then—

Kael reached for Elara's hand.

Adrian suddenly shouted,

"Stop them!"

But no one moved.

Seraphina spoke slowly,

"You are going against the Montclair Estate, Kael."

As Kael walked toward the door, he replied—

"No."

"I'm simply showing everyone your true faces."

The doors opened once more.

Light waited outside.

Darkness remained within.

Elara glanced back one last time.

There was rage in Seraphina's eyes now.

Disbelief on Adrian's face.

Kael spoke quietly.

"Let's go."

The two of them walked out together.

And for the first time inside the estate—

the sound of control collapsing could finally be heard.

To be continued…
