Jerry's Point Of View
The second I let go of her hips, her knees completely gave out. I moved on pure instinct, catching her heavy weight against my chest before she could hit the cold tile.
I wrapped my arms tightly around her bare waist, pulling her flush against my chest. "I've got you, princess. I've got you, breathe."
She buried her face in my shoulder, her breath coming in ragged, shallow gasps. I could feel her wanting to fight me… she was tense, shaking with frustration, probably wishing she could claw my face off or throw her Corvanni name in my face again.
But she couldn't stand on her own. She just leaned all her dead weight into me, her heart hammering wildly against my ribs like a trapped bird. I held her there a moment longer than necessary, memorizing the way she fit against me, the way her body still remembered mine even if her mind refused to.
