Chapter 141: The Witch's Will Across the Eras
Ran Mouri's killing intent, Professor Agasa's madness, and Sonoko Suzuki's hatred—these emotions, hidden deep within them yet isolated by the world's barrier, were already quite telling. Their origins were bizarre: appearing both like external infections and self-nurtured seeds. This contradiction could be perfectly explained by the residual influence of a "First Loop."
Although the world's isolation interfered with the Omniscience Authority's detection, Mo Yu had already formed a hypothesis based on these clues.
This world was an eternal stage, where characters appeared one after another just to perform a never-ending story. To maintain the stage and the story, "Fate" was born. Ran Mouri waits and searches forever, but she will never find Shinichi Kudo. Professor Agasa is a scientist and inventor, but he is forever relegated to tinkering with toys, never achieving the status or impact of a real scientist. Sonoko Suzuki is boy-crazy and longs for romance, but even if she finds it, her love will never bear fruit.
The story has no ending, and thus, they have no ending. One year, two years, ten, a hundred—even across millenia of vast time, these immortals remain on the eternal stage of Beika Town with their immutable personas. They accompany the protagonist, Conan, witnessing endless crimes and cases, day after day, year after year.
An unclosing stage, actors who never bow out, a story that never stops.
For these characters, it would be fine if they remained unaware. But once they perceive the truth, madness inevitably follows like a shadow. To live is to be doomed to never obtain; to wish for death is to be unable to die. The "Eternal Stage" is the cage and the curse that Fate bestowed upon them.
Under this curse, the characters of the First Loop gradually awakened and sensed the world's abnormality. Killing intent, madness, and hatred were born. These things did not end with the First Loop; instead, they became imprints that seeped into the Second Loop, lurking within the new generation of characters on this eternal stage.
It was just a guess, but Mo Yu felt the probability was high. The evidence lay in the fact that this world-bubble's distortion of the timeline wasn't perfect. Currently, even the protagonist Conan had been ejected from the closed system of time-distortion and could clearly perceive the world's abnormality. If even the most important protagonist was "broken" in the Second Loop, the problems in the First Loop must have been far worse.
The Omniscience Authority, despite being blocked from deeper investigation, calculated an 82.32944% probability for Mo Yu's theory! Mo Yu didn't care about the five digits after the decimal point; an 80% certainty was enough for him.
Some guesses were verified, but new questions arose: What exactly happened to Conan in the First Loop? How did the First Loop end? Why was the Second Loop born? What transpired during the transition between the two? These remained unsolved mysteries.
But it didn't matter. Mo Yu was confident he could find the evidence!
Using the Moriarty fragments as a core to add "magic" to Sonoko's bodysuit wasn't just for fun; it was a probe for evidence. Moriarty's body was the condensation of all evil in the world. Using it as a medium, it resonated with the residual First-Loop hatred hidden inside Sonoko. One internal, one external—by attacking from both sides, Mo Yu could tear through the world's isolation and learn more!
As he increased the intensity of the "evidence digging," black qi surged around Sonoko on her mutated motorcycle. Her eyes grew hollow, and she fell into a trance-like state between wakefulness and dreaming. Splashing blood and falling bodies filled her blurred vision. Whispers of hatred rang in her ears, but she couldn't hear them clearly.
The only thing she could feel was the rising, surging malice piercing her heart.
"Don't hold back. Don't endure. Ravage, lash, and destroy. And while you're at it, go meet the next 'Magical Girl candidate'..."
Sonoko's eyes suddenly blazed. The pitch-black aura around her ignited into flames that flowed into the motorcycle. The already mutated bike transformed into a hell-steed akin to the Ghost Rider's, its speed skyrocketing while leaving charred tire marks in its wake.
Moriarty's fragments served as the core of the Magical Girl suit, and Mo Yu's will was condensed within. Unlike his direct control of "Lucia Unit 1," Mo Yu exercised indirect influence over the Magical Girl. If Lucia required WASD controls and complex keyboard combos, the Magical Girl was more like a voice-controlled mouse—he clicked a destination, and she ran there; he clicked an enemy, and she charged.
The Magical Girl possessed considerable autonomy. The catch was that Sonoko was currently "sleepwalking" and didn't resist. If she were more awake or possessed a firmer will, she could resist Mo Yu's influence. Not that Mo Yu cared.
Soon, a pharmaceutical research facility in a remote location appeared before Sonoko.
The security guards heard the roar of the motorcycle from afar. They were grim-faced and alert. Seeing a bike wreathed in black flames charging at them, they immediately knew this was trouble. They summoned their Stands and drew electric batons. Their Stands were characteristic—mostly black-toned and ferocious.
"Stop! We are not accepting visitors—"
Sonoko didn't listen. She twisted the throttle, accelerating violently. The guards dove out of the way, and the motorcycle smashed through the iron gates with irresistible force!
The alarms blared. People inside the laboratory realized there was an intruder. Many rushed out, including several men in black trench coats with cold eyes.
"This is the base of an evil organization," a voice whispered. "There are almost no good people inside. So, like a proper magical girl, do whatever you want to the bad guys..."
Sonoko's eyes erupted with brilliant fire. With a malicious, feminine giggle, she charged!
"Whoever you are, if you're here to cause trouble, then DIE!"
The men in black barked, summoning their Stands. Five Stands lunged forward, unleashing a flurry of punches to knock Sonoko off her bike.
In that instant, Sonoko gripped the handlebars with one hand and raised the other. Electricity surged through her suit, sparks flickering. She threw a punch—then another, faster and faster. Her single hand unleashed a stream of afterimages, colliding with the ten hands of the five Stands!
Electromagnetic Drive: Third Gear. 500% Output Burst.
In the realm of science, this output was far beyond what an untrained girl like Sonoko could handle; sustained use would surely cause physical damage. But where science fell short, magic compensated. The Moriarty fragments allowed a human to evolve into an immortal, supernatural Xiao Hei. Even if Mo Yu hadn't taken it that far yet, it was enough to transform Sonoko, allowing her to maintain a 500% muscle output indefinitely.
Her fists were like lions and tigers, her speed like lightning. Combined with the motorcycle's momentum, she was unstoppable. After a clash of "Ora" punches, the five Stands were sent flying. The men in black stumbled, shocked by the weight of her blow. "What? No Stand? You have this much power through your own body!? Who are you!?"
Sonoko, drifting between dreams and reality, couldn't answer. But Mo Yu was happy to act as the narrator.
"Tremble! The Magical Girl with the Blade of Hatred has arrived! Come, Distillery grunts, recount your sins...!"
The men in black weren't intimidated; they reached for their guns. But then, a harsh shout rang out:
"Hmph! Playing God!"
A tall, muscular man with an obscured face stepped forward. He was a pitch-black silhouette in a black trench coat, radiating an intense dark aura. He was a "Super Black-Man" (Xiao Hei). The other grunts immediately showed respect and fear, calling out:
"Lord Brennivín!"
From a higher dimension, Mo Yu raised an eyebrow. He did a quick search and found that Brennivín is an Icelandic liquor made from potatoes and caraway seeds—reputedly tasting more intense than medicated oil.
Harvesting another bit of useless knowledge, Mo Yu closed the browser and watched the scene. He hadn't expected to see a new character in the Distillery—a Super-Villain sublimated by a Moriarty shard. It was understandable; with the Killing Intent surge acting like a "double XP event," crime was flourishing, and the Organization was absorbing fresh blood.
The "sleepwalking" Sonoko had no desire for dialogue. She drove the bike straight at him. Brennivín sneered and raised a hand. An invisible heavy hammer descended, slamming into Sonoko. Boom! The motorcycle disintegrated under the pressure, and Sonoko was flattened into the ground.
"A serial hammer-murderer? Interesting!"
Mo Yu instantly discerned the source of Brennivín's power. He wasn't Japanese, but a Mexican serial killer who had wandered many lands, killing over thirty people with a hammer and evading international police. Using a Moriarty shard, he had devoured his own Stand to evolve his life-form, becoming a permanent "Xiao Hei." His ability, [Slaughter Hammer], summoned invisible hammers—simple, direct, and lethal.
Mo Yu curled his lip. He looked down on this guy. While killing with a hammer was "novel," his crimes lacked finesse. Hitting lone targets in secluded spots and then fleeing across borders? Compared to the "flashy" crimes in Beika, he lacked creativity.
Brennivín's strike didn't break Sonoko. She knelt on one knee, electricity flowing through her. Under the intense output of the Electromagnetic Drive, she resisted the hammer's pressure and stood up step by step. The hammer's greatest force was the initial impact; the weight afterward was manageable.
Brennivín snorted as invisible hammers began to rain down. Sonoko dashed forward, her 500% output making her look like a "Mini-Superman." Dodging the invisible strikes, she leaped into the air for a standard Rider Kick—or rather, a Magical Girl Kick. (Explicitly, her legs were far stronger than her fists in this world.)
Brennivín didn't care. He made a gripping motion with both hands and swung!
Sonoko's foot slammed into Brennivín's chest, but simultaneously, his invisible hammer crushed her. Both were sent flying. Brennivín scrambled up quickly. Even though his chest was deeply caved in—an injury that would kill a human—he looked unfazed. The "Immortal While Identity is Unknown" law attached to the Xiao Hei body made him transcend humanity.
Sonoko tumbled across the floor. Her injuries were worse; aside from the hammer damage, her leg was fractured. Being able to output 500% power didn't mean her bones could handle the recoil of hitting a target.
Brennivín licked his lips. Assigned by the Organization to guard this facility in Gin's stead, he had missed the joy of hammering enemies into paste.
Suddenly, the narrator's voice boomed:
"Rejoice! Facing a powerful foe for the first time and nearing defeat, the Fire of Hatred within the Magical Girl has finally blossomed! Her potential is liberated! She enters Phase 2 Transformation, revealing the true form of a WITCH to the world!"
Before Brennivín could react, he felt his ankle tighten. He looked down to see a pitch-black tentacle wrapped around his leg. In the next second, his world spun as he was hoisted up and slammed violently into the floor!
Sonoko had risen. Her Magical Girl armor had grown darker, and terrifying black qi radiated from her, forming tentacles that lashed out at everything—Brennivín and the Distillery grunts alike. She slowly opened her mouth. The mask covering her face had fused with her skin, and it too opened, revealing rows of fangs!
A shrill, hateful roar echoed through the air.
The Moriarty shard on Sonoko carried the essence of criminal cases. Though the "original owner" of the shard was a low-quality criminal, Mo Yu had "processed" it. When that criminal was swallowed by the Killing Intent, he ceased to be an individual and became a symbolic manifestation of World-Malice: [The Sin of Whipping].
Now, as a Phase 2 buff for Sonoko, it showed its true worth. She temporarily gained the "Xiao Hei template," including the immortality law. Damage no longer hindered her.
Driven by the Fire of Hatred, Sonoko went berserk. Her tentacles grew razor blades, creating a storm of slashes. The grunts didn't dare approach; even with Stands, they could only defend. Stands feel the host's pain, and they couldn't damage a girl wreathed in immortal laws.
Only Brennivín, also possessing the immortality law, could trade blows.
But as they fought, Brennivín grew uneasy. Sonoko's Phase 2 power was far more savage and terrifying than his, and it was still climbing. He couldn't understand it.
This was natural. Sonoko wasn't just being driven by the shard; she was being fueled by the surging Fire of Hatred within her. If this hatred truly spanned from the First Loop, then her "awakening" was the revival of a super-elderly monster who had witnessed countless crimes over an age. Brennivín was a "modern genius," but compared to a primordial monster, he was tiers below.
Mo Yu didn't care about the fight. He focused on the burning Hatred. Malice attracts malice, and the shard acted as a beacon for that First-Loop fire.
Finally, the world's isolation was shattered. The fire burned clearly from the First Loop into the Second. In an instant, Sonoko was wreathed in terrifying black flames so fierce they seemed to devour sunlight. To Brennivín, the clear day had turned to night.
Mo Yu's Omniscience Authority worked at full power, using the fire as a conduit to parse information.
The first data to hit his consciousness: Cases.
Vast, immeasurable stretches of time filled with endless crimes. The quantity was staggering—not hundreds or thousands, but hundreds of thousands, millions. This was just what Sonoko had witnessed in the First Loop.
Mo Yu traced the line to its very end. There, he saw Sonoko's figure!
"Conan... no, Shinichi... kill me. Set me free...!"
She was attacking manically, her hateful roars filling the air. Standing before her was a blurry silhouette. Though the figure was obscured, his eyes were full of utter despair.
Finally, that figure reached out and gripped Sonoko's neck.
Snap. Everything ended.
