Ezra
I looked up at Allen with searching eyes, unable to believe the scene in front of me. The man who had held me so gently only hours ago now stood covered in blood, his sword dripping onto the white marble beneath his feet.
I waited for him to say something. Anything. An explanation. Whatever, I just needed some context for what the hell was happening. Tell me this wasn't what it looked like. Tell me I was missing something.
But he didn't say anything to me. His eyes lingered on me for the briefest moment before they drifted away as if I wasn't standing there at all. He turned back toward the chaos, lifted his sword and struck a bunch of soldiers and servants. The blade sliced through the air and bodies were literally dropping like flies. The screams only grew louder and I could feel the nausea bubbling down my throat. No. This wasn't real.
