Dominic's expression faltered slightly, so subtly that it almost went unnoticed.
He parted his lips as though intending to say something, but whatever words had risen to the tip of his tongue seemed to die there.
After a brief hesitation, he simply closed his mouth again and stared at Sonia in silence.
But Sonia wasn't done. If anything, his reaction only seemed to encourage her.
Her eyes hardened slightly as she leaned back in her chair and regarded him calmly as she spoke slowly.
"But tell me something, Mr. Whyte. Will you be able to reclaim your position? Will you still be able to protect what should have been yours from the very beginning?"
Dominic's eyes narrowed almost immediately. "Is that supposed to be... a threat?" he asked, his voice carrying a trace of amusement.
The smile on his face remained intact, but the sharpness hidden beneath it was impossible to miss.
