"Alex proposed to marry the Whyte daughter and rewrite the story," Sonia announced calmly as she stirred her tea.
"What?" Rita shrieked reflexively. Her voice rose several octaves higher than usual, drawing the attention of nearby diners.
A few people glanced in their direction before quickly returning to their meals.
Sonia merely lifted an eyebrow and looked at her. "Why are you surprised?"
"I just don't get it." Rita answered.
Sonia chuckled softly and took a small sip from her cup. "You don't have to be surprised. Honestly, I expected something like this to happen. Besides, that was exactly why I left out some details when I first released the news."
Rita stared at her in disbelief. Her fingers tightened around the edge of the table as anger flashed across her face.
"He is such a spineless fool," she muttered through gritted teeth.
Sonia smiled. "You don't look good when you get angry."
