Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6: UNBOUND

Master Dell flinches and lets out a cough. "Oh! no! You're not my only student. You're my favorite but not my only one". He stands up and begins to walk out of Yori's room. "Follow me and bring a sac with you".

Yori hurriedly looks for a sac around his room. 'I swear that old man says the most important things at the worst time', he thinks to himself. Yori then rushes to catch up with Master Dell, making sure to close the doors to his room as he leaves.

Yori finally finds Master Dell at the top of the silver tower. Panting from exhaustion, "You couldn't even tell me were you ran off to? I've been looking for you everywhere!", Yori complains.

"It's not my fault you walk slower than an old man", chuckles Master Dell. He directs his hand to a chair, "Sit; our talk of students just reminded me about a few of my students I should warn you about". Yori dusts part of the floor and sits there crossed legged instead.

"What did you do if I need a warning?", assumes Yori.

"One of them became a member of the Faith just as I did", Master Dell turns to smile at Yori, "He's actually very strict for being a student of mine, he's the one who'll be rushing here tomorrow to aid me in protecting this village".

Yori abruptly stands and announces, "I told you I'm not leaving", his head drops; his hair covering his face he continues, "Please don't make me leave...".

"Yori, the other Masters from The Faith know of your existence!", Master Dell pauses. He also stands, "They've always known...", Master Dell sighs. "But I told them I would ensure that you were protected...that I'd be your master!".

Yori lets himself fall to the ground.

Master Dell walks towards Yori. "But that promise was only heard by the other Masters meaning anyone who wasn't present has the authority to capture you and take you to The Faith headquarters".

"Does that mean your students too?", sniffles Yori.

Master Dell nods. "My students don't know that you're a lycan; so once they do they'll hunt you down. Either to end your life or to hand you over". Patting Yori's head he continues, "So I ask you again. Take that bead to Umu and become strong enough to stay by my side as my student. Will you do that for me Yori?".

'Agreeing to this means I have to leave; but I'll be coming back stronger', Yori thinks to himself. 'This is something Master asks of me because he wants me by his side so I'll do it'. Yori looks at his master and answers, "I'll go. I'll do it for the both of us".

"I was going to make sure you're protected. But you leaving was the best way I could do that", Master Dell assures Yori. "Now hurry up and get packing, it's almost night time".

Master Dell watches Yori pack, occasionally nagging him. A few hours pass and it's now forty three passed six PM.

"Now that everything's packed I should get going Master", says Yori whilst waving ass he walks out of the barn.

Master Dell walks up to Yori using his wooden staff, "Where is it you're going?". Yori stops and looks back. "This is why I kept telling you to listen before you go but you seem to be keen on leaving in such a hurry", pokes Yori in the ribs with his staff, "Do you have any clue where Umu is?", pokes again, "Do you even know what the bead I gave to you does?", pokes one more time, "How am I supposed to be at ease when you're being this reckless!?".

"I thought it was something I had to figure out on my own as part of my training or something...", Yori justifies.

"You don't even know your way around and you stand out a lot more than you realize". He gets silent. Master Dell then holds out his hand to pat Yori's back, "Once you get out of the woods past the clearing, make sure to look at your map. I made sure to add whatever you need in there".

Yori exhales a content breathe, "Understood Master".

Master Dell and Yori begin to walk out into the clearing of Kopumula behind the barn. They walk; side-by-side, the grass oscillating by the humming winds will. And almost half way through the clearing. Yori hesitates and stops.

Master Dell notices and turns to Yori, "It's time Yori...". Master Dell stops walking too.

With one more look back at the barn, the silver tower, the houses in Kopumula and even the people, who's fear he came to understand. He took it all in and looked towards the forest.

"One more thing before you leave", says Master Dell reaching out his hands towards Yori's neck. Dumbfounded, he flinches thinking he's about to get hit by his masters staff. He quickly kneels once he's realizes his Master's intentions. "Now you haven't complained about your collar ever since I asked you to go on this journey for me, So I'll get rid of it for you...", Yori's collar, a large, thick, circular belt applied vertically but bound horizontally by a bolt wedged and tightened to make the wearer uncomfortable.

"I'm the one who asked you to have it placed on me Master, you don't have to take it off, I'm dangerous!", Yori manages to let out, his face dripping tears to the ground.

"Cover your ears Yori!", Master warns as he exerts his strength into unscrewing the bolt. Screeches provoke the air forcing Yori to groan from the colliding metals sharp sounds.

"Consider this, my final parting gift!", with a loud thud and clank to the ground, Yori's collar no longer resides around his neck.

Yori quickly stands up-sac in hand-his eyes focused on the trees in front of him, he can hear the chirping birds and the crawling bugs on the ground. His pupils bounce out into his iris. Master Dell only watches; giving Yori the most gentle smile he could muster.

Yori plants all fours into the ground and bolts into the forest. Letting out an occasional howl that slowly fades as it reaches the village until nothing reaches Master Dell.

Master Dell tightens his grip on his staff as he looks at the forest and as the howl stops reaching Kopumula. He turns and walking to the barn. And in an imperious voice Master Dell commands, "Show yourself...Br. Marvin".
