Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5: VAMPIRE WITHIN

"What do you mean she's your daughter?", Yori asks; his eyes barely holding his tears back.

The woman's voice wails in horror, "I have sinned against my daughter as something demonic! Oh Murena!; let my daughter be born to a good mother in her next life and may I atone a thousand times for harming her!".

With those words, the remaining parts of her wither away. Even the unholy flames that came from her burning and spread to the houses were no more.

Meanwhile, in the barn Himunzowa and Master Dell continue their battle.

Himunzowa stands at the end of the room and Master Dell between him and his way out. His breathe heavier, his strength and stamina already in the shallow ends of his reserves. He covers the hole in his stomach with his hand one more time. He isn't healing.

He looks at Master Dell, then at the door and gathers himself and lunges full speed at him.

'He has held me here all this long but he doesn't seem to tire! That witch promised me far too much to let it end here!' He thinks to himself.

Master Dell guides his body into a ready stance with his right foot behind. Holding his staff out, Himunzowa reaches him with his right claw out, Master Dell pierces his right elbow forcing him to twinge but Himunzowa holds his staff with his left hand and tries to throw him out of the doors way.

Master Dell let's go of the staff leaving it in Himunzowa's hand.

Himunzowa rotates himself to hit Master dell with his staff.

Master Dell skips back.

He dodges it in time.

A loud intimidating howl fills the air thickening it with malice.

They both stop. From the stairs that lead to Yori's room, the slow periodic clack of claws against the hard floor reach them.

Yori appears in the room on all fours. The pupils of his eyes beastly red; his face pulled into a deadly snarl. He turns his gaze to Himunzowa.

Himunzowa begins to shiver, his mind begs his body to compose itself but his body knows. It now knows what it means when the eyes of a predator beyond comprehension dub one as prey.

'There's little I can do to prevent him from going on a full blown rampage as it is', Master Dell concludes upon seeing Yori.

"Impossible!", Himunzowa declares, his mind ignorant of his body walking backwards. "My blood is that close to the caliber of a great vampire!...no werewolf should make me shake to my- He bumps into the wall only then noticing that he had been cornered.

In a low growl, Yori asks, "Master...don't stop me". He makes his way to Himunzowa, his body nearly two hundred and ten centimeters tall, a growl growing angrier with each breathe and then he stands upright once inches between him and Himunzowa.

The wooden staff from Master Dell falls to the ground. Master Dell walks up to Yori, holds his hand and says, "He's already dead Yori...killing him won't bring an end to your anger". In front of Yori and Master Dell lies the almost ash of Himunzowa's body.

Yori pulls away from Master Dell and faces him, tears streaming down his eyes, "You don't know what he did!", He breaks down into Master Dell's arms turning back to his normal size. "He turned his wife...",

Master Dell pulls Yori closer; his tears falling into Yori's hair. "That's enough out of you!", Master Dell consoles, "Let yourself grieve, grieve the loss of a precious life Yori".

That day; for the first time, the villagers witnessed Yori's actions in trying to save them. They too mourned the loss of lives and got angry hearing the betrayal from one of their own.

The next day, the villagers began repairing the homes that were affected by the fire. Master Dell and the village Chief decided that their water supply be laced with garlic without the knowledge of the other villagers.

Yori repairs the door in his room whilst Master Dell rests on a chair "It's about time I told you the rest of what you need to know before you leave".

"I'm not going anywhere. Not after...what happened", Yori responds as he tightens the screws on the doors hinges.

Master Dell stands and begins to walk towards Yori, "What happened was something no one deserves to go through", he inspects the door Yori's fixing. "I asked The Faith to send me more help; they'll be here tomorrow".

Yori drops the screwdriver in his hands looks back to Master Dell and asks, "Why didn't you tell me about this?".

"I'm telling you now", Master Dell responds as he walks back to the chair. He sits on the chair and sighs, "I need you to take that bead-

"To your mystical friend Umu I know!". He pauses, "I'm sorry, I don't want to leave Kopumula. I don't want to leave you". Tears slowly fill in his eyes.

"Yori, I took care of you knowing that The Faith forbids having any lycans as village Vampire warders. Their ability to transform at any time and their volatile emotions make them 'too human' to control".

Yori walks to sit on his bed. Master Dell smiles as he watches him. "You think they'd know I was a lycan if they saw me?"

"They would. Anyone who's worked with or against a werewolf would know Yori". Seeing Yori's head lowered, Master Dell continues, "I'm sending you on this errand to get stronger and once you're strong enough to find him, come back to this village. I'll be waiting for you my favorite student".

"I thought I was your only student?".
