Zade didn't move to the bed.
He didn't know when exactly, probably as night blurred into the first gray light of a new day, he finally fell asleep.
His body gave out after hours spent trapped in his own head, endlessly processing the two massive blows dealt to him in a single evening: the devastating news he'd just received, and the bombshell his father had dropped right before it.
He honestly couldn't fathom either of them.
He hadn't thought he would be worrying about his father like this again, or that those two merciful months of freedom the man had given him would come to such an abrupt end.
Nor could he wrap his head around Thomas. Thomas was literally dead. He hadn't passed from natural causes; someone had murdered him.
Obviously, no one in their circle knew anything about Thomas's private life. Maybe he really did have personal enemies, but he'd barely been back in town. How could he have managed to make enemies lethal enough to kill him this quickly?
