The call had barely connected on the first ring before Shawn's panicked voice came rushing through the speaker, breathless and trembling.
"Shawn, what the fuck is going on? Are you on duty right now? Hey, are you crying? Shawn, please try to calm down." Zade felt a sudden prick of panic rise in his own chest as he heard Shawn sobbing loudly on the other end, his breath coming in jagged, desperate gasps.
