"Yes... I cried."
Kevin's lips trembled, his eyes darting back to the bright sky. The sun had slanted from the summit, bathing the entire lawn under its warm, soft glow.
Prior to the escape, he could only rely on his memories to remember how the outside world was. Though ruined by the apocalypse, it was still better than being forced to live in a cold prison cell with not even a single small window.
"We were still in the west back then," he said, forcing himself to continue. "Mountains were everywhere. The forest was so dense. Even now... I knew we couldn't make it through without my brother."
A soft, breathless laugh spilled from his lips. He pinched the space between his brows, suddenly hit by a wave of exhaustion. Yet, he didn't stop.
"It was hard to navigate because the roads had collapsed. I relied on my brother... more than I want to admit."
