Chapter 103
Scarlett could not look away from the screen.
The girl in the photo looked like her, but it did not feel like her.
Her hair was longer then, falling loosely over her shoulders. Her expression was softer, unaware. She stood outside what looked like a campus gate, sunlight catching her face at just the right angle.
It was a moment she did not even remember.
And yet someone else had captured it.
Watched it.
Kept it.
Her fingers curled slightly as a cold wave moved through her chest.
"Where did he get that?" she whispered.
Julian's hand tightened around his phone.
"That is what I am trying to figure out."
Scarlett shook her head slowly, her thoughts scrambling. "No. Not just that. How long has he had it? Why does he have pictures of me from before I even knew you?"
Julian did not answer immediately.
That silence again.
It was starting to feel like a pattern she could not escape.
Scarlett's eyes lifted to his, sharper now.
