Chapter 25: An Unwanted Distance
The studio lights in the photoshoot room were turned off one by one, leaving behind a dimness that contrasted sharply with the earlier bustle. Julian was still sitting on the velvet sofa in the corner, his fingers idly spinning a glass filled with the remains of cold coffee. He had just finished a photoshoot session for the latest luxury watch line, and for some reason, a faint smile still lingered on his lips as he stared at his phone screen, looking at a selfie Scarlett had just sent from the film set.
That simple happiness shattered when the sound of firm high heels echoed across the studio's concrete floor. Laura arrived with a tablet in hand and an expression that looked ready to announce the third world war.
"You look absolutely pathetic with that smile, Julian," Laura said bluntly.
Julian did not turn. "You're just jealous because your schedule is too packed for you to smile, Laura."
