Chapter 248 - Rules and Mystery - Chapter 248

Conrad knew about Rule Number One from the experience; he saw it many times at this point to not miss it.

Octopuses were the first ones to show that such a rule existed in the first place.

Frog then continued.

"Rule 2 is, as I said, connected to Rule 1: no creature born and living in the Deep, also known as the Ancient Deep, can leave the area."

"If a creature is able to leave the Ancient Deep, passing all the others at the upper levels, then cold energy, natural energy in the deep, acts and harms the race of that creature a great deal."

Conrad nodded and touched his chin.

"For usual offenders, the living races inside of the deep give punishment themselves via Rule 1, and for creatures smarter and more unusual, rules activate and punish the race of the said being..."

"From this, Rule 1 is a manipulation tactic that may not have any NEN involvement on the individuals of the races, but Rule 2 is definitely some sort of a punishment due to breaking a condition that is set."

Frog looked at Conrad.

"Are you still listening?"

Conrad nodded.

"Sorry, I was thinking about something..."

"I am listening; please do continue."

Frog nodded.

"Rule 3 is that, after the rules are given, an individual is not from the Ancient Deep; the individual needs to be destroyed."

Conrad stood still as he heard rule 3; he looked blankly at the eyes of Frog and then noticed the numbers of Frogs have reached more than one hundred, looking at the conversation all through the cracks.

Conrad smiled.

"So, this rule shows that your race will be needing to try and destroy me."

Frog nodded.

"Yeah."

"From the moment you spoke to us."

"It was already decided."

"It is nothing personal; it is just rules of this place."

"If you know the rules and leave the Ancient Deep, who knows what kind of dangers you would bring."

Conrad nodded.

"Logical."

"But don't you think that I don't have a race of my own and my people?"

Frog nodded.

"Of course not..."

"I can think of that...."

"But it is irrelevant."

"Even if we did not want to, you are talking to me; answering me already breaks the rule."

"As you find out, there is an intelligent creature living here..."

Conrad nodded.

"Okay then."

"I am sorry."

Frog heard Conrad say that he was sorry, and half a moment later, a blade swung and sent a sharp aura slice towards the creature and sliced it in half.

The frog he spoke to was dead already as the grayish blood gushed from the body of it all over the walls.

The second later, all the frogs acted; some of them jumped towards Conrad, trying to body slam him using their bodies, and others showed their blush, more than seven meters long, thin but also muscular tongues.

"Vips!"

"Vips!"

Sounds of tongues breaking through the air resonated in the deep.

Conrad dodged the attacks with ease, and some of the attacks hit the wall, cracking the stone.

He then quickly started moving with the orb and his blade, which first targeted the frog and turned back into the cane.

"It will take some time killing them..."

"But I can do it."

Conrad thought within and then started targeting Frogs in groups as he felt them in his "en." He tried not to use Blink to save the aura, as these frogs were not that dangerous to him to demand the use of Blink to save him.

There may be more dangerous creatures down, and it is better to hide.

With a speed that was even hard for Frogs to see, he started using his cane masterfully.

"Ogghhh." A frog got hit by the side of it, and then it blurted out a huge amount of blood as its body lost all of its vitality, and the creature started dropping down to the deep.

Each hit of Conrad was calculated in terms of how much force he put behind it. The cane itself was a hard material and protected by Shu via nen, adding to physical power and speed, and power comes up from nen to the mix.

If Conrad wanted, each attack of his would generate enough power that it would be similar to getting hit by several trains at the same time with all the force behind the cane.

If he were to hit using all of his force every time he hits, there would be no injury or body of the creature; Cane would act like a sword and slice it or turn the frogs into mush of blue skin and some blood.

"Demon!! "One," Frog shouted with its weak voice as Conrad kept on hunting them one by one and sometimes in groups.

A frog jumped with great speed.

"Take this..." it said as it hit the Conrad back like a cannonball. As it hit, it felt a huge amount of pain, and then it was nothingness.

Hitting Conrad at high speed while he was protected by a large amount of nen due to the environment itself and the fact that he was in a battle state is not different from hitting a steel wall.

The frog expected to kill Conrad by hitting it, but it was killed by its own hands after its body hit Conrad.

"Actually, they are not that weak." Conrad thought as he found another and quickly moved towards its side and swung his cane from up to down to crack its head as its body dropped to the abyss.

"But they are too arrogant to think that with the power they got, they are capable of dealing with me."

"Even if all of the members of races arrive, I can just rest and keep on killing them."

"Their physical capability with their lack of nen is easy to handle..."

Conrad kept on killing, and he also knew that the reason why he was able to kill these creatures with such ease was because they did not know how to use Nen effectively; if they did, it would be something else.
