Chapter 247 - Intelligent Frog - Deep Food - Chapter 247

Conrad did not care much about the flies; he particularly did not like the deal with the bug-type creatures, as it felt weird and unnatural from his perspective.

They were interesting, but they should stay interesting from some distance from him; it would be the best for him.

"Hmmm..."

"After understanding that they are not going to be able to swarm me."

"They stopped attacking."

"Even bugs have some understanding of themselves." Conrad then continued going down.

Conrad did not waste any more time and continued going to town.

In no time he reached 4000 meters and then used another ancient script on paper to put a marker on the area so that he would not forget.

As Conrad was about to go down, he saw something.

"Oh..."

"This time it is some sort of a frog."

Conrad saw a blue frog creature; it was bigger than ordinary frogs and at least the same size as big bats.

As he looked at one of them, the one who he looked at noticed him and then spoke.

"What are you looking for?"

Conrad was dumbfounded for a second as he did not expect clear communication capabilities.

"Oh..."

"My name is Conrad; sorry if I was rude towards you."

"May I come closer?" Conrad said as he looked at the frog-creature standing on the flat surfaces between the cracks.

The frog looked at him for a moment.

"Yeah."

Conrad went closer; while he was getting closer, he was getting ready against any attacks.

Frogs are known to use their tongues to attack, and the speed of it would shock you.

Due to these reasons, he was ready to act in less than half a second against any attack.

Despite these thoughts, the frog did not attack.

Conrad, while getting closer to the creature, thought that he believed frogs were the predators of the fruit flies in nature and wanted to know why these frogs were below them.

After the distance was not more than four meters.

Frog spoke.

"I've never seen your kind..."

"What level your kind lives on?" The frog asked.

Conrad thought and answered.

"At the upper levels, above the octopuses, if you know them."

Frog nodded.

"Oh, the Deep Keepers..."

"I know them all right!" As Frog spoke, Conrad noticed some fear and a reluctant way of speaking from the behavior of the frog.

Frog then looked at Conrad with its big blue eyes and asked.

"I never thought that there would be a race living above them."

"Are they not attacking you?"

Conrad thought.

"They attacked one of my objects while it wanted to go up, but when I went down, they did not."

Frog nodded.

"Oh..."

"Oh..."

"I understand."

"The Deep Rule 1 is still effective as always."

Conrad then asked.

"Can you tell me more about this place?"

Frog thought.

"I can tell you."

"But what do you want to know...?"

Conrad stopped for a second.

"Start from simple knowledge and go more from there by adding details."

Frog looked at Conrad with some helpless eyes.

"I..."

"So."

"The place is named The Deep..."

"There are about ten to fifteen races living at each level..."

"Most races live inside of the cracks and naturally forming caves that can get pretty big."

"We are the Blue Deep Frog Race of the Fourth Level..."

Conrad nodded.

"So, the levels from 1 to 10 separated by 1000 meters..."

"Each 1000 meters there is a change in environment and the race that lives here."

The frog then continued.

"There are ancient rules that we should all abide by..."

"These rules are called Rules Of The Deep."

"It starts from Rule 1 to Rule 7..."

"Break any of them, and the race of that member gets a big problem..."

Conrad looked at Frog and nodded.

"Who is the enforcer?"

Frog spoke.

"Most of the times other races..."

"But sometimes, a cold energy activates and causes death in the race of rule-breakers..."

"It is pretty rare for such a thing to happen."

Conrad closed his eyes for a moment.

"So, there are rules, there is a punishment system if the rules are broken, and it is said that the rules are from ancient times."

"All the things point out that there is some sort of a similar situation here like Viridian Vein..."

"I wonder if there is an individual or race of nen users of some kind like Virdis that put these rules in place."

Conrad asked another question.

"Would these rules be effective against an outsider?"

Frog thought.

"The natural cold would not be, but the races would still attack you..."

"They are scared."

Conrad nodded and also noticed that there are some other frogs arriving from the different cracks.

"How many of you exist?"

The frog answered.

"About..."

"Fifty thousand of me."

Conrad let out a cold breath and nodded.

"If the number is close between all the levels, all levels have twenty-five to fifty thousand creatures..."

"At least 300,000 to 500,000 creatures of different types live here."

Conrad looked at the same blue ice grass he saw and then pointed to it.

"What are these?"

Frog smiled.

"Oh..."

"You don't even know about that."

"You are really from the outside."

"I had my doubts, and now that I see that you do not have the cold energy of the deep and don't know about the 'deep food.'"

"I guess you are telling the truth."

Conrad nodded and just listened.

Frog then continued.

"As I said, it is called Deep Food."

"All races can eat it and farm it; it grows quickly, is tasty, and is never boring to eat."

"It also nourishes our body and makes us powerful."

"All of our ancestors and their ancestors ate that to survive..."

"When you eat it, there is no need to drink water too."

Conrad nodded and smiled.

"Can you tell me about the rules?"

Frog thought and nodded.

"Rule 1 is never to go up from the level you are here; if you go down, you cannot go up without risking being attacked by the race."

"The races will not stop you from going down but will try to do everything to stop you from going up."

Conrad smiled.

"Yeah, I think I know that," he said.
