Chapter 191 - CHAPTER 191

The night had not truly passed.

The sky was still dark.

And the air inside the hospital room felt increasingly suffocating.

Not because of noise.

Not because of movement.

But because something invisible was reaching its limit.

Sophia lay there, her breathing no longer as calm as before.

Her eyes were open.

Her vision was slightly blurred.

Her hand gripped the blanket.

Tighter than usual.

There was pain that came without warning.

And this time.

It was not mild.

On the other side of the room, Adrian Blackwood noticed it instantly.

He did not wait.

His steps were quick as he approached.

"Sophia."

His tone had changed.

Sharper.

Deeper.

Sophia tried to answer.

Her voice was caught in her throat.

Her breathing was unstable.

The pain returned.

Stronger.

Clearer.

And impossible to ignore.

Daniel stood up immediately from his chair.

His face was tense.

"What is happening."

Leonard Graves also moved closer.

No more jokes.

No more calmness.

Everything was focused on one thing.

Adrian held Sophia's shoulders.

"Look at me."

His voice was lower.

But firm.

Sophia tried.

Her eyes met Adrian's.

There was something there.

Fear.

That she had been hiding all this time.

The pain struck again.

More intense.

Sophia held her breath.

Her body stiffened.

Her hand instinctively moved to her stomach.

And this time.

She could not hide it.

Adrian understood immediately.

And it caused his expression to shift.

Something he could not control.

"Call the doctors now."

Daniel moved instantly toward the door.

Not waiting for a second order.

A few seconds later.

Fast footsteps were heard outside.

The door opened.

The medical team entered.

Quickly.

Trained.

And immediately went to work.

Sophia was positioned more stably.

Equipment was attached.

Examinations were performed.

The sound of machines began to be heard.

Rhythmic.

Yet terrifying.

Adrian stood at the side.

Unmoving.

But his entire focus was on one point.

Sophia.

Nothing else mattered.

Nothing was more important.

Daniel stood slightly back.

But his eyes never left.

Leonard crossed his arms.

But this time, not out of relaxation.

But because he was trying to hold something back.

Several minutes passed.

That felt like an eternity.

Until finally.

One of the doctors turned around.

His face was serious.

"Her condition is unstable."

Silence.

Heavier than before.

Adrian stepped forward.

"What does that mean."

The doctor took a breath.

"Preterm labor."

The words fell like a heavy weight.

Sophia closed her eyes.

The pain was still there.

Now there was something else.

A deeper fear.

Not for herself.

For the baby.

"Is the baby safe," asked Adrian.

His voice was low.

There was pressure in it.

The doctor did not answer immediately.

Several seconds.

That felt like forever.

"We will do our best."

Silence.

No one spoke.

Because that answer.

Was not enough.

Daniel looked down slightly.

His usually steady hand was now clenched into a fist.

Leonard exhaled a long breath.

His face was hard.

His eyes showed something rarely seen.

Worry.

Adrian returned to Sophia's side.

His hand gripped hers.

Tighter than ever before.

"You heard him."

His voice was softer.

Still firm.

"You have to hold on."

Sophia opened her eyes.

Looking at him.

There was pain.

But also determination.

"I won't lose him."

Her voice was quiet.

But clear.

Adrian lowered his head slightly.

His forehead almost touching her hand.

"And I won't lose either of you."

The words came out without hesitation.

Without restraint.

Completely honest.

On the other side.

Daniel suddenly turned to the screen.

Something moved again.

This time.

Not like before.

He looked closer.

His expression changed.

Leonard noticed immediately.

"What now."

Daniel didn't answer right away.

When he spoke.

His voice was lower.

"It's moving again."

Adrian did not turn his head.

But he heard.

"Hold it back."

One word.

But enough.

Daniel stared at the screen.

The movement was more aggressive.

Faster.

More directed.

As if it knew.

That this was the right moment.

Sophia closed her eyes again.

The pain came.

But this time.

She gripped Adrian's hand even tighter.

As if it was the only thing keeping her here.

The doctors continued working.

Instructions were given.

Medication was prepared.

Everyone moved fast.

But the pressure remained.

Elsewhere.

Marcus Sterling stood calmly.

His eyes fixed on the screen.

He saw everything.

The movement.

The weakness.

The timing.

He smiled faintly.

"Now."

He muttered softly.

Back in the room.

Daniel swallowed hard.

"It's attacking deeper."

Leonard cursed under his breath.

"Of course it is now."

Adrian finally turned around.

His gaze was cold.

Colder than before.

"Don't let it in."

Daniel nodded.

His fingers moved rapidly.

It was harder.

Heavier.

Because his focus was divided.

Between the screen.

And what was happening behind him.

Sophia took a deep breath.

The pain began to subside slightly.

Not gone yet.

She opened her eyes.

Looking at Adrian.

"Don't stop."

The sentence was soft.

But firm.

Adrian looked at her.

For several seconds.

That felt long.

Finally.

He nodded.

The final silence fell.

But this time.

It was filled with two things.

The war outside.

And the struggle within.

Both were equally important.

Both were equally dangerous.

And both.

Could determine everything.

The room felt increasingly narrow.

Not because of its size.

But because of the rising pressure from two directions.

From the body that was fighting.

And from the war that never stopped.

Sophia gripped Adrian Blackwood's hand tighter.

Her fingers were cold.

But her hold was strong.

As if she was holding onto something to keep it from slipping away.

Her breathing was erratic.

Unstable.

She remained conscious.

Still holding on.

Adrian did not let go.

His gaze did not shift.

For the first time since all this began.

He truly looked unsettled.

Not panic.

Something deeper.

A fear he had never allowed to surface.

"Sophia… stay here."

His voice was low.

Almost a whisper.

Sophia tried to smile faintly.

Despite her pale face.

"I'm not going anywhere."

The words were simple.

Her breath caught at the end.

The pain returned.

Stronger.

Sharper.

The doctors reacted immediately.

Orders were given.

Machines were checked again.

"Her blood pressure is rising," said one of them.

"Stabilize her now."

On the other side of the room.

Daniel stared at the screen with a clenched jaw.

The attack he had held back earlier.

Had changed.

More aggressive.

Smarter.

As if it knew their weak points.

"It's entering through the second backup channel," he said.

Leonard Graves moved closer immediately.

"It won't stop."

Daniel shook his head.

"It's actually accelerating."

Leonard exhaled sharply.

"It knows we are distracted."

Daniel did not reply.

His eyes said it all.

Adrian was still in his place.

Now his mind was divided.

Half on Sophia.

Half on the situation outside.

And that.

Was the thing he hated most.

Sophia opened her eyes slowly.

Her vision was still slightly blurred.

But she could see Adrian.

And that was enough.

"You need to focus."

Her voice was soft.

But clear.

Adrian looked at her.

There was refusal in his eyes.

"I am not leaving you."

Sophia shook her head slightly.

"This isn't about leaving."

She breathed with difficulty.

"This is about survival."

A brief silence.

But enough for Adrian to understand.

He didn't like it.

But he knew.

Sophia was right.

Behind them.

Daniel spoke again.

"It's almost breaking through."

His voice was more strained.

Faster.

Leonard clenched his fist.

"If that falls, we are finished."

Adrian finally stood up.

Slowly.

Steadily.

He looked at Sophia one last time.

That gaze was deeper than before.

Heavier.

As if memorizing every detail.

Sophia returned that look.

Without words.

Full of meaning.

Because they both knew.

This was not an easy choice.

But it had to be done.

Adrian turned around.

Walking toward Daniel.

The aura around him shifted.

Colder.

More focused.

"Redirect the pressure to sector three."

His command was clear.

Daniel moved instantly.

"If we do that, other sectors will be exposed."

Adrian did not hesitate.

"Let them."

Leonard smirked faintly.

"Always love the risky options."

But he did not refuse.

He immediately moved to help.

Behind them.

Sophia closed her eyes again.

The pain was still there.

But now she endured it differently.

Not with force.

With calmness.

Because she knew.

She was not alone.

The doctors continued working.

Instructions came faster.

"Heart rate is fluctuating."

"Stabilize now."

One action after another was taken.

The result was still uncertain.

The pressure remained high.

The situation was still critical.

On the screen.

The movement shifted.

Daniel watched with intense focus.

"We managed to redirect it."

Leonard nodded.

"Not completely."

Adrian stood behind them.

His eyes were sharp.

"Enough for now."

Not for long.

Because suddenly.

Daniel stopped.

His face changed.

"There's something else."

Leonard turned immediately.

"Don't tell me."

Daniel swallowed.

"It's opening a new path."

Silence fell.

Colder.

Heavier.

Adrian stared at the screen.

His eyes narrowed.

"It's not just attacking."

He paused for a moment.

"It's surrounding us."

Leonard let out a short laugh.

Void of humor.

"Getting interesting."

Elsewhere.

Marcus Sterling stood calmly.

His hands behind his back.

His eyes on the screen.

Everything was moving according to plan.

Slowly.

But surely.

"They are starting to tire," he muttered.

Back in the room.

Sophia opened her eyes again.

The pain had not vanished.

But her mind remained sharp.

She looked at the ceiling.

Then spoke softly.

"We can't just hold on."

Adrian turned to her.

"We have to attack."

Sophia continued.

Although her voice was weak.

It was filled with determination.

Silence fell once more.

But this time.

Not out of doubt.

But because a great decision was beginning to form.

Adrian looked at Sophia.

Longer.

Deeper.

Then slowly.

He nodded.

Daniel took a breath.

"If we attack now…"

Leonard finished the sentence.

"We are betting everything."

Adrian looked at the screen.

His eyes were cold.

Full of certainty.

"We have been betting since the beginning."

The final silence descended.

No hesitation.

No delay.

Only one direction.

Forward.

Because turning back.

Was no longer an option.
