Chapter 6 - A Valuable Hostage

As a rookie who had just joined the police force and had almost no field experience, she couldn't even manage to stay calm when faced with such a severe case. Her body trembled uncontrollably, and instead of letting go of Logan's hand, she held on even tighter.

Logan's composed analysis made her subconsciously see him as a source of support.

The bus was in chaos.

Screams. Crying. Pleading.

Most passengers were so terrified that they were crying uncontrollably, their legs too weak to stand, and some even wet themselves out of fear.

However, a few passengers immediately tried to rush toward the doors. The moment they heard the robbers' shouts, most of them dropped to the floor with their hands over their heads.

Could anyone outrun a bullet?

Why "most"?

Because the front door was still within reach, one middle-aged man ignored the robbers' warnings and desperately sprinted toward it.

Thud!

Just as he reached the front door, the robber standing guard with a knife drove the blade into his chest. The man collapsed instantly, blood pouring from his mouth.

It was obvious the robbers preferred not to use their guns unless absolutely necessary. Gunfire would attract too much attention.

"Boss... please don't kill me... please..."

Not long after Logan had boarded the bus, the previously arrogant blond man who had tried to "expose the scam" was now on his knees, crying as he pointed at Logan.

"He has money... a big bag of euros! Boss, rob him! I swear I won't tell anyone I know you!"

Damn it!

Logan wanted nothing more than to slap the coward senseless.

Felicity was equally furious.

The man had boldly confronted Logan when he thought he was picking on a helpless stranger, yet now that real armed robbers stood before him, he was willing to sell out anyone to save his own skin.

If only she had her service weapon...

She would have loved to put a bullet through this scumbag.

"A big bag of euros?"

The robbers' eyes lit up with greed.

They had already stolen plenty of gold and jewelry, but selling those items was risky and troublesome.

Cash was different.

Euros.

That was exactly what they wanted.

Foreign currency was much harder for the police to trace through serial numbers. If they could get their hands on a large amount of it, why wouldn't they?

"Drive!" the robber at the front ordered, pointing his handgun at the driver.

Shaking violently, the driver started the bus.

A stream of yellow liquid soaked his pants, filling the bus with a pungent odor. He wasn't the only passenger who had lost control out of fear.

"Danny, move!" the rifle-wielding leader at the back ordered.

"You!"

The robber at the rear, gripping a knife, strode toward Logan in three quick steps and pressed the blade against his neck.

"Where's the money?"

There were five robbers armed with knives and guns.

As for Logan...

He looked pale, frail, and sickly, as though a strong gust of wind could knock him over. The robbers didn't consider him a threat in the slightest.

"Here."

Logan slowly stood up, stepping away from his window seat.

"Don't!"

Felicity grabbed his arm and whispered anxiously,

"If you hand them the money, they won't let you go. They won't spare you! We can't give in to criminals!"

Logan found the blond coward despicable.

But Felicity's innocence frustrated him just as much.

These men carried knives and guns.

Did she really think refusing to hand over the money would save anyone?

If they wanted it badly enough, they could simply shoot him and take it anyway.

The real problem was...

By trying to stop him, she was putting herself in even greater danger.

From the moment the robbers boarded the bus, Logan had noticed they were paying special attention to Felicity.

Compared to ordinary passengers, a police officer represented a far greater threat.

"Looking to die?"

The knife-wielding robber glared at Felicity.

At the same time, the two gunmen guarding the front and rear doors immediately raised their weapons and aimed them at her.

"Harley, should we take out the cop first?" one of them asked.

"No."

Harley, the leader holding the loaded rifle, narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.

"If we fire, we'll expose our position. The police will lock down this area immediately."

His gaze settled on Felicity.

"We need hostages. A police officer is worth more than ten ordinary passengers."

He smiled coldly.

"Everyone else can die."

"But not her."

As Harley spoke, Logan's mind raced at incredible speed.
