Chapter 8 - Waiting for the Perfect Opportunity

Bang!

The blond thug let out a blood-curdling scream as blood spurted from his thigh, quickly soaking his pants before pooling beneath him. The pain overwhelmed him, and he passed out almost instantly.

The remaining passengers on the bus watched in horror as the five robbers dragged Logan into the wilderness beside the highway.

Their eyes were filled with fear.

No one dared to move.

Felicity stood frozen, staring as Logan disappeared into the distance with the robbers.

She couldn't understand it.

Why had Logan deliberately drawn all the danger onto himself?

Apart from the middle-aged man who had been stabbed earlier, everyone else on the bus was now safe.

The highway connected Sanin City and Bien City, and they were stranded in the desolate stretch between the two cities.

The robbers were escaping into the wilderness.

Taking only Logan as a hostage gave them a much greater chance of escaping than dragging an entire bus full of passengers with them.

"Move it, kid! Faster!" Harley barked.

"I... can't..."

Logan gasped for breath, sweat rolling down his pale face.

"I'm too weak..."

He wasn't pretending.

His original plan had been simple.

Lure the robbers away from the bus.

Wait for an opportunity to get close to one of the armed men.

As long as he could seize a single gun...

He was confident he could eliminate every one of them.

Unfortunately...

Throughout the journey, every robber who carried Logan was ordered by Harley to hand over his firearm to another accomplice.

Harley never allowed the man carrying Logan to remain armed.

It was obvious.

Harley wasn't an ordinary robber.

He was disciplined, cautious, and exceptionally meticulous.

Logan's original plan had been completely shut down.

What now?

Was he really supposed to hand over two hundred million euros?

Not to mention he didn't even possess that amount of cash.

And even if he did...

There was no way he would trade away his dignity for survival.

As Qinglong...

He refused to live that way.

This wasn't going to work.

Harley would never allow him within arm's reach of a firearm.

That option was gone.

If this had happened a year ago...

These petty criminals wouldn't even have qualified as opponents.

Harley glanced back at Logan's pale complexion and finally realized the man wasn't pretending to be weak.

"Bear!"

He pointed at the largest member of the group.

"Carry him!"

"At this rate we'll never make it."

"We'll take turns."

"Remember..."

"Two hundred million euros are waiting for us."

Two hundred million euros.

Compared to that, the profits from robbing the jewelry store were insignificant.

Once the stolen jewelry was sold through the black market, they'd be lucky to split ten million among themselves.

Money was the greatest motivator.

And the promise of two hundred million euros injected the five robbers with endless energy.

Bear bent down and hoisted Logan onto his back without complaint.

Despite Logan's frail appearance, he still weighed over two hundred pounds.

Even for someone as strong as Bear, the extra weight slowed him considerably.

The other four robbers gradually moved farther ahead.

Logan quietly observed everything around him.

Although the gang possessed three firearms...

They were all crude, homemade weapons.

Poor accuracy.

Weak penetration.

Low stopping power.

Not military-grade.

"Your name's Bear?"

Logan asked casually while lying across his back.

"Yeah..."

Bear answered between heavy breaths.

"Is Bear your surname?"

"No."

"It's just a nickname."

"Got it?"

"How old are you?"

"I..."

Running while carrying over two hundred pounds was already exhausting.

Talking at the same time only made it harder.

Without realizing it...

Bear's attention became completely divided.

And at that exact moment...

Logan, who had been lying quietly on Bear's back the entire time...

Suddenly shifted his upper body.
