Julian Peyton gripped Laura Lowell's hand tightly, his tear-filled, red eyes full of pleading.
Laura Lowell helped him sit down on the nearby sofa and poured him a glass of warm water. "You still have your grandmother and the Peyton Family. Don't put me in this position. People have to take responsibility for their actions."
"Sis, I'm begging you. I know this is selfish and shameless of me, but I'm truly out of options... I've already thought it all through. Once I recover, I'll stay in Sudglen for good. I'll spend the rest of my life by your side, protecting you."
To suddenly have a younger brother, one who promised to protect her for the rest of his life... Laura was, admittedly, a little moved.
But that couldn't erase everything his mother had done.
"Alright, you should go back to your room and rest."
