The two of them exited the elevator together. Aiden Shaw watched Laura go into the hospital room before returning to work.
Seeing Laura Lowell had arrived, Dylan Zane gave a slight nod. "Mrs. Shaw, would you mind watching Theo for me for a moment? I have a few things to take care of."
Laura Lowell set down her bag and nodded with a faint smile. "Leave Theo to me. You go do what you need to do."
"Thank you, then."
Dylan Zane reached out and ruffled the little guy's hair, then put on his overcoat and left.
Laura Lowell sat on the edge of the hospital bed, her warm palm enveloping Theo's small hand. "I'm so sorry. It's because of me that you're like this. But please, can you get better soon? Your daddy and everyone else are so worried about you."
Theo just stared at Laura Lowell, his dark, glossy eyes as vacant as a barren desert. He wouldn't say a single word.
