The meal was mostly light fare. Damien Valerius ladled some soup for Aurora Sterling and said softly, "You have an exam this afternoon, so you shouldn't eat anything too greasy."
Damien Valerius's home was sparsely staffed. All the help were temporary workers who came at their scheduled times, did their jobs, and left. As a result, there was no one else around.
Aurora Sterling much preferred this quiet home environment, unlike the Sterling estate, which teemed with butlers and servants. She had always thought Damien Valerius was an ostentatious man, but seeing where he lived made her think she might have misunderstood him.
"Thank you," Aurora Sterling said icily, taking the soup Damien Valerius had ladled for her. She was clearly still angry about the extreme way he had woken her up.
Seeing the angry look on her face, Damien Valerius actually found it adorable. "Were the questions on this morning's exam difficult?"
