Alvein walked calmly leaving the middle area of the arena. He did not look back at all to see the condition of his opponent.
While stepping, the silver-haired youth raised one of his clenched hands into the air, a simple gesture of victory yet radiating absolute dominance after canceling all his magic.
"T-The winner of this fourth battle is Alvein Vedegra!" exclaimed the host from her podium, her voice sounding a bit shaky because she was still amazed and getting goosebumps from that invisible ultimate attack. "What an incredibly extraordinary and incomprehensible attack! Throughout my career, this is the first time I have seen magic that can be manipulated until it becomes truly invisible like that!"
Hearing the official announcement, the medical personnel on standby at the edge of the field immediately ran into the arena carrying a stretcher. They moved quickly to lift Elenora's body lying unconscious and brought her to the medical room.
In the spectator stands, the silence was slowly replaced by cheers and whispers of admiration. The spectators, especially the delegation and students from the Astoria academy, never expected that Alvein possessed such a deadly power.
They all knew that the light element was usually synonymous with defense or blinding beam attacks, but Alvein could make his magic attacks invisible and undetectable.
Even Dean Saires, could not hide his amazement and awe. The middle-aged man stared at Alvein's retreating back. What kind of terrifying ability did Arvin teach his spouses?
Meanwhile, within her unconsciousness on the medical stretcher, Elenora did not feel peace. Her consciousness was instead dragged and thrown into a dream that felt too real, too dense, and highly terrifying.
When she opened her eyes, she was no longer in the arena but standing right in the middle of a completely destroyed battlefield.
In front of her, stood the figure of a man she knew very well, Arvin Vedegra. However, the man looked different. He stood tall staring at a sea of thousands of enemy soldiers who were charging towards them with deafening roars.
Elenora looked around in a panic. On her left and right, stood all of Arvin's spouses. They all stood gallantly and full of determination awaiting the sea of enemies coming to attack.
What is really happening here? Why is there a large-scale war? Elenora thought in shock, her body trembling violently. Wasn't I just fighting Alvein in the arena? Why am I suddenly in a place like hell?
"My Husband!" called Allen softly yet his voice managed to cut through the noise of the battlefield. "You don't need to worry. We are all here with you and will fight by your side until our last breath!"
"That bastard Orvion!" exclaimed Alrain in annoyance, his hands trembling due to peaking anger. "I never expected that all this time he was a spy from that bastard king! All this time he deceived us with his innocent face and intentionally became our husband's spouse purely just to spy on us! Let me be the one to kill him today to make up for my mistake in the past that brought him into our household!"
Hearing that name mentioned, Elenora became even more confused.
Orvion? A spy? Isn't he one of the tournament participants from Victoriaz academy who was openly challenged by Alrain at that time? thought Elenora trying to digest the colliding information in her head. What is really happening here? Why am I suddenly on a battlefield with all of them and hearing this strange conversation?
"Alrain, calm down." said Arvin casually without looking back. His tone of voice was extremely cold, as cold as soul-freezing ice. "All of you here have indeed become immortal beings. But, keep your emotions in check on the battlefield. Remember, that ancient tome was successfully stolen by them, and there are definitely many newly created immortal beings among our enemies ahead!"
"Besides, it's not only Orvion who betrayed us. But Lorvin, Hubert, and Robin also betrayed us from the inside." Arvin continued again casually, yet his eyes stared sharply at the enemy soldiers' ranks. "This is entirely my selfish mistake. I was too greedy and instead without thinking twice made the four of them my spouses, which ultimately brought destruction upon us."
Elenora felt her head throbbing in pain. She increasingly did not understand the topic of Arvin's conversation which felt foreign yet threatening.
Lorvin? Hubert? Robin? Who are they? thought Elenora in frustration. This is the first time I've heard those names. Arvin doesn't have spouses with those names in my memory!
Suddenly, a hand patted Elenora's shoulder quite hard, making her body jerk forward.
"Hey Gavin, don't just space out at a time like this!" exclaimed a well-built, purple-haired youth standing next to her whom she didn't know at all. "Focus your mind! Let's destroy the alliance of bastard kingdoms that killed your little brother in that barbaric way today!"
Elenora was shocked beyond belief. She looked down and only realized that her body felt taller and her chest was flat. She was no longer Princess Elenora of the Holy Galdius Kingdom, but rather inside the body of a young man named Gavin.
And the thing that made her heart feel like it stopped beating the most was the purple-haired man's words earlier. My little brother was killed?
"Y-Yes, I'm ready!" answered Elenora confidently on reflex, even though her true mind was still very confused by the terrifying reality she was experiencing.
"You are just like me, Gavin!" chimed in Alrain who stood not far from her, looking at her with a gaze full of empathy amidst the chaos of war. "Your kingdom has betrayed you. Your family has killed Savin tragically. Just like the Astoria Kingdom which also betrayed us. Isn't that right, Oliver?"
"Yes, you are absolutely right, Alrain!" answered Oliver, a yellow-haired youth standing on the other side, his eyes glinting sharply full of hatred towards all the enemy soldiers in front of him. "I am already so sick of seeing my own older brother justifying any means to seize the throne, who even without hesitation killed my own father when he went to the Marland Kingdom for a peaceful negotiation mission. I never expected that state visit turned out to be my brother's foul plan to eliminate him!"
"Damn it!" cursed Ordion in annoyance, clenching his fists tightly. "Even though we tried hard and managed to destroy that cave previously, why does the history of that massacre still happen?! Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!"
"It seems, Dalvanel also possesses memories of his previous life, just like you." chimed in Arvin analyzing all the bad possibilities that caused their plans to fall apart. "But even regretting it won't change anything. All these betrayals have already happened. For now, let's forget everything and just focus on the war right in front of our eyes."
