The sharp and unexpected question that Alrain had just thrown out successfully made Arvin, Allen, Ordion, and Alvein stop their footsteps and immediately look straight at the green-haired youth.
Realizing that the gazes directed at him were gazes full of disbelief, as if they all rejected his impulsive idea flat out, Alrain had no intention of backing down from his stance at all.
"Besides, try to think about it logically. Why do we keep wasting time studying at the academy?" Alrain asked with a serious tone, feeling that their current daily routine was already useless. "Both in terms of brain capacity and combat strength, the four of us have far surpassed and can no longer be compared with all the students and teachers there!"
Alrain stared intently at his husband.
"It is better if, starting today, we stop pretending to be ordinary students and focus on your actual plans!" Alrain continued, giving a strong reason that they should be able to accept with common sense. "Do not let everything become too late and we regret it in the end, just because you are too busy taking care of exam grades, class assignments, or stupid formalities as an academy student!"
Hearing that argument, Arvin had to admit that the reason behind Alrain's crazy idea was very logical and acceptable.
"Your reason is indeed very logical, Alrain." Arvin said honestly, unable to deny the validity of his second spouse's words. "But remember one thing. If we officially resign from the academy right now, we will lose our special status. Like it or not, in order to be able to move freely between regions, we must register to become an adventurer to get an official identity card."
"I completely agree with the idea Alrain said!" Allen suddenly chimed in with eyes sparkling enthusiastically. "Ever since we succeeded in exploring those ancient ruins, I have been daydreaming about wanting to adventure with you. If the five of us become an adventurer, our lives will definitely be very fun."
"I also agree with the two of them!" Ordion added, joining in to give his voice of approval. "I sometimes cannot understand your thought process which is too relaxed. Why do you still stay there to be a model student? Is it only after the massacre tragedy truly repeats itself that you will start moving seriously?"
Alvein, who incidentally had only seen the outside world for a day and knew nothing about the details of their lives before bearing the title as the fourth spouse, chose to press his lips tightly together. He did not dare to comment on anything and decided to just listen to the tough debate of the four of them.
However, for Arvin, the series of critical remarks and sharp protests from his three spouses felt like a slap that landed quite hard on his face. He truly never expected that the three of them actually really wanted to get out of their comfort zone of life as academy students immediately.
Arvin appreciated their concerns. But, he remained firm in his initial stance and strategy.
"Even though your ideas and reasons make sense, I still will not change my decision right now!" Arvin decided with a firm tone. "I will still register Alvein today, and we all will still participate in the inter-kingdom tournament as the academy's representatives. Because going there with that status is a crucial part of my grand plan!"
"What is the difference anyway? Why don't we go to the capital of that kingdom to watch the tournament as an adventurer group?" Allen asked suddenly, his eyebrows knitting together because he felt he could not understand his husband's decision which seemed convoluted. "Isn't our status the same? Whether as an academy student or an adventurer, we still have the freedom to go to that kingdom's territory."
"That is exactly where the main problem lies, Allen!" Arvin answered quickly, breaking his first spouse's innocent assumption. "If our status when we arrive there is only as a low-class adventurer, we will absolutely not be given access to enter the palace, let alone enter the grand royal library there to look for that cloning magic book!"
Arvin looked at his three spouses interchangeably.
"Only official magic academy delegations, high nobles, or war heroes are allowed to set foot in their royal library. Our status as tournament delegates is the easiest VIP admission ticket that we must not let go just like that!"
Allen, Alrain, and Ordion immediately fell silent after hearing his explanation. Their eyes widened slightly. The three of them truly never expected that their roles as academy students were actually the main key that made their husband's plans run smoothly.
He is also right! Alrain thought in his heart, feeling slapped by the logical fact and unable to deny his husband's reasoning anymore. If we go there only armed with the status of a new adventurer group, the service and access provided by the kingdom's higher-ups will definitely be very different and restricted. Unless we waste years to raise our rank to become top-class elite adventurers first.
Oh my... Allen thought in his heart while massaging his temples, feeling proud yet also feeling very guilty for having doubted and tried to hinder his husband's mature plan. I never expected that my husband is always thinking one or even ten steps further ahead of us. Forgive me who has doubted you, My Husband...
My Dear!!! Ordion screamed proudly in his heart, his eyes staring at Arvin full of adoration. You are truly extraordinarily great! You always manage to amaze me with your unpredictable strategic thinking. Ah... I actually feel very guilty towards my husband for having just spoken presumptuously and trying to ruin his plans.
Realizing the mistake in their assumption, the three youths glanced at each other briefly, then turned back towards Arvin.
"Forgive me for having doubted you, My Husband / My Love / My Dear." Allen, Alrain, and Ordion said in unison, expressing their regret with a guilty tone but with a completely unplanned timing synchronization.
Hearing their voices colliding to say apologies at the same time, the three of them spontaneously looked at each other's faces with shocked gazes.
And only a second later, that awkwardness broke. The three of them could not hold themselves back and finally laughed freely in the middle of the street.
"Hahaha."
The free and clear laughter of the three exceptionally charming-faced youths successfully attracted the attention of pedestrians and people around them. The reactions and thoughts of everyone who saw that sight varied.
There were mothers who smiled happily seeing their closeness, there were adult men who were relieved to see youths free from burdens, there were those confused about their relationship, and there were even many young girls whose cheeks flushed red, secretly daydreaming of wanting to be one of Arvin's spouses after seeing such sincere happiness radiating from their group.
Seeing his three spouses cheerful again, Arvin let out a long sigh and felt very relieved. However, at the same time, frustration gnawed at his heart again. He really wanted, really longed to be able to immediately find and master that damn cloning magic today as well.
He wanted to split himself so he could fulfill his promise to be able to hug, hold hands, and stroke the faces of his four spouses simultaneously when they were laughing freely like this, without any of them feeling neglected.
The laughter and smiles of the four of them are my most precious treasures in this world! Arvin thought happily in his heart, his eyes softening as he looked at his family. They are all so cute when they laugh happily like that! I swear I do not want to lose their smiles for a second time! Hopefully, I will find clues about that cloning magic book soon, then I will immediately master it that very night.
"Honey... are we going to continue the journey to the place called the academy?"
That innocent question coming from Alvein's mouth successfully shattered Arvin's reverie and forced him to step back into the current reality. Likewise with Allen, Alrain, and Ordion. The reprimand from their husband's fourth spouse made the three of them stop laughing immediately.
Arvin smiled thinly at Alvein, then nodded firmly.
"Yes, Alvein. We are going to the academy now."
The answer Arvin said was immediately followed by nods of agreement from his three other spouses.
The five of them resumed stepping together, walking along the capital streets toward the academy gates.
