The atmosphere inside the kitchen felt very heavy for a moment after the facts of the past were revealed. Alvein was still rooted, processing the reality that the people around him had once killed each other in a previous life.
"But that was in the past, Alvein. Right now, we are a family!" Allen said in a firm tone, breaking Alvein's long reverie. "Right now, our husband is focusing on doing everything possible to prevent the terrible tragedy of that era from happening again."
"Now you know the real truth!" Ordion suddenly chimed in, staring straight into the fairy's golden eyes. "Are you willing to continue supporting our husband, no matter what happens in the future?"
Hearing the question that demanded certainty, the doubt in Alvein's eyes vanished without a trace.
"Of course I will continue to support our husband!" Alvein answered firmly, his voice echoing with full conviction in the kitchen room. "Right now I am his absolute subordinate as well as his fourth spouse! How could I possibly ignore my own husband who has saved me from that lonely and dark place! I am not that low to betray the master who is also my husband!"
Hearing that answer full of loyalty, Allen and Ordion smiled in relief. However, in another corner of the kitchen, Alrain's facial expression actually looked increasingly dark.
"But to be honest, up until this second, I still never expected that the bastard king truly disliked the existence of the Vedegra family that much!" Alrain suddenly chimed in, his tone of voice filled with suppressed anger. "And what's crazier, Ordion in the past knew nothing about the immortality pursued by that bastard and only obeyed his orders blindly."
Alrain looked down, staring blankly at the food ingredients in front of him. His breathing started to become rapid.
"But what confuses me now is, will our husband truly try to prevent that massacre or not?" Alrain continued, expressing the anxiety he had been harboring all this time. "Right now, he actually looks too relaxed and focuses more on educational matters at the academy. Even though if the timeline hasn't changed, the massacre of all his family members will happen very soon."
Alrain clenched his right hand very tightly, until the raw potato in his grasp was crushed to pieces.
"If the massacre of his family and other people's families happens, doesn't he think about his own fate and also the other people who will again become victims of that crazy king's cruelty? I, who saw my sister die right before my own eyes, almost went crazy. I don't want that to happen again!"
Without them realizing it, not only Yonna stood frozen listening to their heavy conversation from the doorway. Arvin apparently was also listening to every complaint from the dining room. He had sneaked out of the bedroom using Alvein's 'invisible' magic which he had just learned.
He is right! Arvin thought in his heart, confirming every anger-filled word from his second spouse. If I want to truly change destiny and not just delay it, I have to move much faster. I don't want to see Alrain crying sadly again from losing Yonna. Let alone to the point of having all members of the Vedegra family killed. The original Arvin would definitely feel very disappointed in me who has failed to save his family if I keep acting relaxed.
Arvin's resolve instantly became firm.
"After the inter-kingdom tournament is over, I will resign from the academy and move to accelerate all my plans!"
That highly familiar baritone voice suddenly echoed in the kitchen area. Instantly, the voice made Allen, Alrain, Ordion, Alvein, and Yonna turn their heads in unison to the dining room.
There, Arvin was standing leaning casually against the wall in the dining room.
"My Husband, are you serious about that big decision of yours?" Allen asked to confirm, his eyes widening in surprise. "And... since when have you been standing there?"
"I have been standing here since earlier! And I listened to all your conversations very clearly." Arvin answered calmly.
Without warning, Arvin activated the 'invisible' magic he had mastered perfectly. In the blink of an eye, his body faded and blended with the air, making his four spouses and also Yonna gasp in shock upon seeing the figure of the head of their family completely disappear from sight.
"I am very serious about what I just said!" Arvin's voice was heard echoing in the room, but his physical form was nowhere to be seen at all. "There is no way I will let that bloody incident happen again to the point of making me regret my stupidity for actually relaxing with what I have right now!"
Arvin deactivated his magic and revealed himself again. He was already standing right next to Yonna who was still frozen at the kitchen boundary.
Seeing the demonstration of that magic directly, Alvein was rooted to the spot. He never expected that his husband could truly master his high-level magic in just a few minutes after he explained it in the bedroom earlier.
"If that is your decision, I will definitely support you, My Husband / My Love / My Dear!" Allen, Alrain, and Ordion exclaimed in unison, their doubts replaced by full conviction in their husband.
"I will also definitely support all your plans!" Alvein then exclaimed, before looking at Arvin with an awestruck gaze. "But Honey, I truly never expected that you could master that 'invisible' magic in the blink of an eye."
"Just so you know, Alvein." Allen chimed in with a proud smile. "Our husband is a genius! Whatever he sees and hears, he will definitely be able to imitate and master it easily in an instant. His ability to understand swordsmanship and magic spell structures is far beyond human comprehension."
Alvein became even more astounded. His mouth opened slightly after hearing the sky-high praise from his husband's first spouse. "Is he really that great and strong?"
"There is not a single person at the academy who does not know about our husband's greatness!" Allen answered with a proudly puffed chest. "He is the strongest human in the academy, or perhaps even in this world."
That statement actually triggered a critical logic in Alvein's head. He turned to look at Allen with a furrowed brow.
"Then, if he is a walking disaster who is that strong, why could you kill our husband in that era?" Alvein asked again, feeling it was very illogical that a man with limitless abilities like Arvin could be defeated by a youth like Allen.
Hearing that question, the proud smile on Allen's face slowly faded, replaced by a gaze implying an old wound.
"That is because he loved me very much." Allen answered as it was, his voice a little hoarse. "Since the beginning of that battle, he never intended or wanted to hurt me in the slightest. In deep despair because he had lost everything, he chose to surrender. He voluntarily died killed by me. After his death by my hands, I only realized everything. I deeply regretted my action of killing my own hero."
All the tragic explanations spoken by Allen felt increasingly illogical to Alvein's ears.
"Wait a minute, how could you know about his feelings and regrets?" Alvein asked in confusion. "Didn't you yourself say earlier that you did not regress like the three of them?"
"Alrain was the one who told me everything after it all happened." Allen answered, glancing briefly at the second spouse. "He met me on the battlefield, not long after I killed our husband in that era. I was crying and lamenting my action. I asked Alrain to kill me so I could follow him, but he refused. And then... Alrain said, he was killed from behind. And up until now, he still doesn't know who the figure was that killed him."
Alvein nodded slowly, absorbing every word. His confusion was now fully answered. The history of his new family now was indeed filled with blood, sacrifice, and complicated love.
"It is better if we discuss that grim past story later!" Arvin chimed in reprimanding suddenly, breaking the atmosphere that was starting to feel too melancholic. "The sun is getting higher. How long are the four of you going to stay still there without finishing the cooking you are currently making?"
Receiving a logical reprimand that sounded firm yet warm to their ears, Allen, Alrain, Ordion, and Alvein immediately snapped back to reality. The four of them hurriedly returned to their respective posts and focused on what they were supposed to be doing in the kitchen.
As for Yonna, the woman immediately quickened her pace toward the bathroom so she could quickly get ready to go to work.
Seeing his family members suddenly become panicked and busy themselves, he could only smile wryly at the funny behavior they showed in the morning.
