On a bright morning, as the sun began to show its form, activities were already running very busily.
In the kitchen area, Allen and Ordion seemed busy cooking while simultaneously taking on the roles of impromptu teachers. The two of them were teaching Alrain and Alvein how to cook.
Meticulously and full of patience, Allen and Ordion guided their husband's two spouses who had absolutely no natural talent in the kitchen.
"Pay attention to the size of the fire, Alrain! Not too big and not too small!" Allen said, giving firm instructions while deftly cutting vegetables. "If the fire is too big, the outside will burn but the inside will still be raw."
On the other side, Alvein was also learning to cut potatoes under the direct supervision of their husband's third spouse.
"Alvein, peel the potato properly!" Ordion exclaimed, giving instructions while pointing at the cutting board. "There is still a lot of skin left on the surface of the potato you just peeled!"
The red-haired youth picked up the recently cut potato. "If you cut it too thick like this, the flesh of the potato will go to waste."
Alvein, who was holding the kitchen knife a bit awkwardly, could only nod obediently and then refocus on peeling the remaining potato skin in his hand.
The sound of knives clashing with the cutting board, the hiss of hot oil from the pan, and the crackle of the stove fire were heard answering each other, creating a warm morning melody inside the kitchen.
In between his potato peeling activity, Alvein turned his head towards Alrain who was seriously staring at the blazing fire.
"Hey Alrain, why are you so insistent on learning to cook?" Alvein asked curiously, not understanding why someone would bother standing in front of the hot air when they could just hire a chef.
"Of course so that I can become the ideal spouse for our beloved husband!" Alrain answered quickly and very enthusiastically, his eyes radiating a burning ambition. "I want to serve the best food made by my own hands for him every day until forever."
Hearing that very straightforward and dedicated answer, Alvein fell silent for a moment. His hand activity of peeling the potato slowly stopped. He stared intently at the second spouse's face, then digested the meaning behind those words.
"In that case... I also want to be the ideal spouse for our husband!" Alvein decided with an equally confident tone. His spirit instantly burned as well, not wanting to lose in terms of providing the best service for their beloved husband.
"Good!" Alrain replied, feeling very proud of Alvein's burning spirit. "The two of us must train hard so we can cook and serve the most delicious dishes for our husband in the future! Basically, we must not lose to Allen and Ordion!"
"Of course!" Alvein replied enthusiastically, raising his knife again.
"Hey, you two!" Allen suddenly chimed in, cutting off their ambitious conversation with a warning tone. "The sun is getting higher. If the two of you just keep chatting and daydreaming like that, our husband will end up starving first."
Receiving a gentle yet firm reprimand from the first spouse, Alrain and Alvein immediately closed their mouths. Both of them returned their full focus to their cooking lesson that morning.
The two of them followed every instruction spoken by Allen and also Ordion very obediently and meticulously, for one same goal: to be the ideal spouses for their husband.
A few moments later, the sound of footsteps descending the stairs was heard. Yonna, who had just woken up, intended to walk to the bathroom on the ground floor to take a shower immediately. She walked with eyes still half-sleepy while tidying her messy green hair.
However, upon passing the open kitchen area, the woman's footsteps suddenly stopped. Her sleepy eyes instantly widened perfectly upon seeing a non-human creature who was cooking together with Arvin's three spouses.
A fairy? Yonna thought in shock, blinking her eyes to make sure she was not hallucinating. Why is there suddenly a creature from a mythical race inside this house, and since when has he been here while peeling a potato?!
Alvein, who had high sensitivity to the aura of someone's presence, immediately noticed Yonna's gaze. He turned his head back and thought it was his husband who had come down.
However, what he saw was actually a beautiful woman with long green hair standing frozen staring at him.
Alvein nudged Allen's arm gently. "Who is that woman?"
Allen turned his head following Alvein's line of sight. "Oh... she is Yonna, Alrain's biological sister." Allen answered casually while continuing to stir the soup in the pot. "She lives with us in this mansion because our husband brought her here to protect her, so she wouldn't be killed again like what happened in that era."
The cute fairy with transparent wings was instantly rooted to the spot where he stood. His brilliant mind quickly digested every vocabulary word he had just heard from the first spouse's mouth.
Clang!
The kitchen knife and potato he was holding simply slipped from his grasp and fell hitting the floor.
"That era?" Alvein repeated with a rising tone of voice, ignoring the knife that fell near his feet. He stared at Allen with a look of disbelief. "What did you mean just now? Are you telling me that there is someone among us who magically went back to the past?"
Hearing Alvein's question, Allen stopped his stirring. He turned and looked at Alvein with a calm expression.
"Not just one person, Alvein." Allen answered, correcting the assumption. "Besides Alrain, there are Ordion and also our husband who have magically returned to the past after the three of them died in that era."
The reality thrown so casually by Allen was like a lightning bolt in broad daylight for Alvein. That fact was a reality that profoundly shook his logical structure.
For a Morpher who had lived and stored data for thousands of years, reversing the axis of time so that someone could regress back to the past was something deemed highly impossible to happen.
My master who created me in the past spent a few years just researching the theory of time regression, but he failed. Alvein thought with a breath that started to become irregular. But here, right in front of my eyes, in the house I occupy right now... people who succeeded in regressing and turning back time after death truly exist!
Alvein swallowed his saliva which felt rough. He took one step closer to Allen.
"Allen, then what about you? Are you also a regressor just like the three of them?" Alvein asked, his voice sounding shaky, still feeling shocked by the extraordinary reality that had just hit his brain in the morning.
"Unfortunately not!" Allen answered while shaking his head slowly, his face looking a bit regretful yet remaining calm.
Then, without hiding anything from their new family member, Allen began to tell everything briefly. He recounted the first time he found out the fact that Arvin had regressed, which was after he accidentally overheard his husband babbling alone in the bathroom about his intention to become a cruel person to awaken his hidden power.
Not only that, Allen also honestly recounted the dark past, that in the previous life, he himself was the one who had killed Arvin in that era.
Seeing the conversation topic already wide open, Alrain and Ordion finally put down their cooking utensils as well. The two of them then added to the dark story with their own versions and experiences in their past lives.
War? Betrayal? Massacre? Regret? Immortality?
Hearing the whole series of true stories that sounded like a grim tragedy, Alvein became increasingly astounded and speechless.
What's actually going on here??! Alvein screamed in his heart, feeling it very difficult to accept the absurd reality he had just heard. My husband and Alrain, with Allen and Ordion... they were all basically enemies who killed each other in that era?
Alvein looked at all the faces in the kitchen interchangeably, his head feeling dizzy.
This is truly crazy! How can those who used to kill each other now live harmoniously under one roof and share the same bed? I am truly amazed that they have succeeded in changing that destiny full of tragedy and regret in their current lives.
