Chapter 236: 255. Will You Choose Xiao Wu or Me
That night, Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun waited deep in a forest outside the city.
Footsteps echoed through the trees. They looked up expectantly—only to see not Xiao Wu, but Yu Tianheng, Er Ming, and Tai Long arriving instead.
"What are you doing here?" Dai Mubai asked, clearly annoyed.
The truth was, all of them were rivals. Each man harbored feelings for Xiao Wu, and though the reborn trio—Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun—were united by their shared past and their resurrection, they saw the others as potential threats. For now, they viewed one another as uneasy allies, bound together by their common goal of eventually defeating Tang San.
As for outsiders like Yu Tianheng, Er Ming, and Tai Long, their hostility was obvious.
Yu Tianheng smirked. "Xiao Wu invited me here. You should leave. Tonight belongs to me, Er Ming, and Tai Long—our night with Xiao Wu."
"Oh really?" Ma Hongjun countered. "Xiao Wu invited us too. She told me herself, 'Hongjun giegie, come meet me tonight in the little forest outside the city.'"
A few minutes later, even Avalanche arrived. When they compared notes, they were stunned—Xiao Wu had invited all of them.
Yet, none of them blamed her. Each man, infatuated and madly loyal, turned his hostility toward the others. The fewer rivals, the higher their chances of being favored that night.
Soon, tempers flared and the clearing erupted into chaos—roars, wings, and martial spirits filled the night air. The jungle trembled as Er Ming pounded his chest like thunder.
Then suddenly—"Stop!"
Xiao Wu appeared at the center of the group, her voice echoing sharply. "Stop this right now! If you keep fighting, Xiao Wu will never speak to any of you again!"
Immediately, the men froze. Spirit powers retracted, and they stared at her with adoration.
"Xiao Wu-jie, you're here," someone said breathlessly.
"Xiao Wu-jie, you've misunderstood—we were just having a friendly spar."
"Xiao Wu-jie—"
"Xiao Wu-jie—"
"Enough!" she snapped impatiently. "You're all my people. I don't want to see you fighting each other! If you ever make me see this again, Xiao Wu will ignore you forever. Understand?"
Their heads drooped like scolded roosters. "Understood…"
"I can't hear you!" she shouted again. "Say it louder! You want to train with me and you sound like that?"
"Yes, Xiao Wu-jie! We understand! We'll never fight again!" the men shouted, standing straight like disciplined soldiers.
"Good. I like that spirit."
Yu Tianheng stepped forward. "Xiao Wu, you called us here together. What's going on?"
Xiao Wu took a deep breath and said solemnly, "I've been hiding something from all of you. The truth is…"
"The truth is Xiao Wu isn't human!"
Everyone except the reborn trio and Er Ming looked shocked.
"What? Xiao Wu, what do you mean?" Yu Tianheng asked.
"I'm a hundred-thousand-year Soft Bone Rabbit in human form," Xiao Wu said. "Now that I've told you the truth… will you still love me as before?"
Without their fusion skill bond, Yu Tianheng, Avalanche, and Tai Long might have captured her for fame and merit. But their souls had been deeply synchronized through their Martial Spirit Fusion Technique, reaching perfect compatibility—betrayal was impossible now.
Yu Tianheng spoke first, firm and steady. "Whether you're human or not doesn't matter to me, Xiao Wu. What matters is that I love you."
The others—Oscar, Ma Hongjun, Dai Mubai, Er Ming, Avalanche, and Tai Long—all quickly voiced their own devotion as well.
"Thank you, everyone," Xiao Wu said, tears welling up. She wiped them quickly away and continued, "I came to the human world at the risk of my life—for revenge. To avenge my mother's death."
Instantly, the reborn trio and Er Ming exchanged knowing glances—but each for different reasons. Er Ming knew the real story; the trio assumed it was the same tragedy from their past lives.
"Xiao Wu, tell us," Yu Tianheng said. "Who killed your mother? We'll avenge her."
"The one who killed my mother," Xiao Wu said coldly, "was Tang Hao."
At that name, Yu Tianheng, Avalanche, and Tai Long all stiffened. Tang Hao's reputation on the continent was infamous—not for evil, but for sheer power. None dared claim they could avenge anyone against him.
"What?" The reborn trio froze in shock. Dai Mubai stepped forward. "That can't be right… Xiao Wu, are you sure Tang Hao was the killer?"
"Dai Mubai!" Er Ming roared angrily, pointing straight at him. "Xiao Wu and I saw it with our own eyes! Do you think we'd lie about it? Why—are you trying to defend Tang San's father?"
"Dai Mubai, I can't believe you," Xiao Wu said tearfully, glaring at him. "I thought you understood me."
"No, that's not what I meant!" Dai Mubai felt his head spin. He had always believed that Bibi Dong was the one who killed Xiao Wu's mother—how could it be Tang Hao now?
"You don't believe me?" Xiao Wu took out a soul-guided recording badge and threw it to him.
Oscar and Ma Hongjun leaned closer as the projection played. In it, they saw Xiao Wu's mother ambushed by Tang Hao alongside the Power Clan—and then Tang Hao killing her and absorbing her spirit ring.
Their minds went blank. Everything they knew—flipped upside down.
It was chaos. How could Tang Hao, once the symbol of heroism, have been the killer all along?
"Now you understand, don't you?" Xiao Wu said coldly. "Tang Hao killed my mother. That means Tang San is my enemy as well. I know the three of you are close to him. So now, I'll ask only once—will you choose Tang San, or will you choose me?"
Their response was immediate.
"We choose you, of course!" all three said at once—Dai Mubai, Ma Hongjun, and Oscar straightening like soldiers before their queen. "Tang San? Who even is he? We only stayed close to him for convenience! Compared to you, he's nothing. Xiao Wu, you are our one and only love!"
