Chapter 176 - Chapter 177: Sleeping with the Goddess

The character selection interface displayed a tall, imposing, expressionless powerhouse. Who else could it be but "The Warlord" Ottar!

Roy was delighted. He hadn't expected such an unexpected harvest from his previous clash with the Freya Familia. This card could summon Ottar as a puppet, meaning he could command this Level 7 juggernaut three times. In the current Orario, as long as he didn't face the real Ottar, this was an invincible trump card.

I can delete whoever I want! In a sense, this card was the most valuable item in the Gold Chest.

"Sss!" Roy's sudden grin pulled at his wounds, sending a jolt of sharp pain to his brain, causing him to hiss through his teeth.

Hearing the noise, the door slowly opened. Lady Astraea walked in, wearing blue and white pajamas. The loose fabric couldn't hide her tall, graceful silhouette. Her brown hair fell like a waterfall, and her blue eyes sparkled like gems. Seeing Roy awake, her face lit up, and the weight on her heart finally lifted.

Roy endured the pain and offered a strained smile. "Lady Goddess... are you alright?"

"Yes, I'm very well." Knowing Roy disliked heavy atmospheres, she didn't mention the tragedy. She sat on the chair by the bed with a serene smile, watching him silently.

Roy felt a bit awkward under her steady gaze. "What are you looking at? If you're that worried, why don't you just come up here and sleep with me?" It was a casual joke, but the Goddess actually took him up on it. She arched her back like a cute kitten and climbed onto the bed with light, careful movements.

Roy's eyes widened. Wait, you're serious?

Astraea lay down beside him on her side, her snow-white arm propping up her head. A playful smile danced in her eyes as she gazed at Roy's handsome face. Her perfect features and cherry-red lips were inches away. Her sweet, intoxicating fragrance washed over him, and... well, she was quite endowed.

Roy's eyes turned bloodshot. What is this trial? Are you testing your follower's resolve?! He wanted to transform into a big bad wolf and devour the little white rabbit in front of him, but his broken body wouldn't allow it. His internal fire gradually cooled into a "Sage Mode." In the quiet room, they could feel each other's breathing, just like in that small cave on the 30th floor.

"You offended the Ikelos Familia for the sake of those children, didn't you?" Astraea whispered.

"In a way," Roy replied ambiguously. He had delivered the final blow, but without the Xenos stalling the Amphisbaena, he would have never had the chance. The cause was saving Marie, which led to Ikelos's enmity, which led to the Xenos' help... it was a tangled web.

"Sleep now," Astraea murmured. Under her motherly comfort, Roy felt a wave of drowsiness. The scent of her—the orchid perfume he gave her mixed with her own natural fragrance—enveloped him. The pain in his shattered body seemed to fade, and he drifted into a deep, peaceful sleep.

The next morning, Astraea was gone when Roy woke up, leaving him with a slight sense of regret. However, the lingering scent in the air confirmed they had indeed shared the bed.

Goddess-assisted sleep—highly effective. Roy felt significantly better.

Since he couldn't move for a week, the Familia members took turns caring for him. Today was Ryu's turn. The beautiful Elf girl walked in cautiously to tidy up bandages and potions, her head bowed, not daring to meet Roy's eyes. Roy understood; guilt was crushing her. She had felt guilty over a 60-million Valis debt; now, she had almost lost her Goddess. She was likely contemplating ritual suicide.

"Miss Ryu?"

"I'm sorry!" Ryu blurted out an apology immediately, acting like a startled ostrich.

Roy sighed. "No one expected that freak accident. But Lady Astraea and I both survived. That is a fact."

"That's just the result..." Ryu's blue eyes were dull. Falling to the 30th floor and Roy's current state were the proof of the danger. Every step had been a tightrope walk.

"I don't care about 'results' or 'theories.' Get rid of that 'Useless Elf' look right now. Do you really expect an injured man to comfort you?" Roy snapped. Seeing the once-valiant Elf looking so dejected, her long ears drooping, made Roy's blood pressure spike.

Useless Elf? Hearing that, Ryu bristled. She glared at Roy, her teeth grinding as if she wanted to take a bite out of him. But at least the gloom had lifted.

Roy's eyes flashed with a smile before turning serious. "Miss Ryu, I need you to do something for me."

"What?" Ryu huffed, turning her head away.

Roy extracted the Earth Magic Sword from his system. With a clank, the amber-colored short sword appeared on the floor. Ryu's pupils contracted; she hadn't even seen where it came from.

"This magic sword is unbreakable and can manipulate terrain," Roy explained. "Take it, hide your identity, and go to the 18th floor. Somewhere in the deep layers... there should be someone digging a hole."

"What are you planning?" Ryu asked, her intuition sensing something dark.

"Revenge, of course!" Roy's lips curled into a fierce, almost crazed grin.
