Aurora ducked beneath a claw and drove her knife into the creature's side before looking beyond it.
Three demon beasts were attacking Kellen simultaneously. Two others were circling behind Reis. A larger group had separated from the main horde and was moving around the battlefield rather than joining the fight.
He eyes narrowed.
"That's not right."
She jumped backward as a beast attacked. Its movements were strangely controlled. It didn't chase her. Instead, it attempted to force her toward another demon beast waiting behind her.
Aurora's expression changed as she immediately realized it was a trap. She spun away and killed both creatures in rapid succession. Then she looked toward the mountain.
"They are coordinating."
Asher heard her. His ears immediately flattened. "What?"
"They are working together."
Another wave of demon beasts charged. This time Aurora deliberately watched them rather than attacking immediately.
