The quiet apology lingered between them long after Aurora spoke it.
Elixir simply looked at her for a moment before the corners of his lips lifted into a small, gentle smile. There wasn't the slightest trace of blame in his eyes. If anything, he looked oddly content, as though the five centuries he had spent waiting somehow no longer mattered now that she was finally sitting beside him beneath the twin moons.
Neither of them spoke again for several minutes.
The cool mountain breeze drifted around them while the distant waterfall continued its endless song. Aurora rested comfortably against his shoulder, her arm still linked with his as they watched the silver mist rise from the valley below.
Eventually, another question surfaced in her mind. She turned slightly toward him. "So... what do you want to do now?"
Elixir looked at her. "Are you asking about my future plan?"
