Aurora watched as genuine surprise flickered across his usually composed face, as though her question had caught him completely off guard. He looked at her quietly for several moments before turning away and walking toward the very edge of the rocky enclave overlooking the valley below.
Without saying a word, he lowered himself onto the stone, his long legs hanging freely over the cliff. The wind gently stirred his red hair while the moonlight painted his profile in silver.
Aurora watched him for a long second. Then she walked over and sat beside him. She copied his posture, letting her own legs dangle over the edge of the cliff.
