"If that were true, Aaron wouldn't have been affected by an attack, don't you think?"
My chest tightened again realizing how much saying that hurt.
She went quiet for a second. "How do you feel?" she asked quietly. Her tone softened. I almost wasn't sure the question had actually come from her. "You seem to care about your brother a lot." She studied my face for a second. "I can't imagine how you feel."
My throat felt too tight to swallow.
"Any idea what happened to him?"
I covered the bottle and didn't answer her immediately. Instead, I straightened and walked back towards the cupboard while Elara's eyes followed me.
"I think you're exaggerating." I dropped the bottle back into the drawer and slammed it shut. "Someone who's truly worried wouldn't be sitting in here doing nothing to help."
