I had let my anger destroy everything again. This would just give him another reason to hold something against me. My whole body vibrated with barely contained rage, but I forced myself to breathe. No matter what it took, I had to calm down. This was not the place to lose it.
"I'm going to give you one chance," Father said coldly. "Tell me exactly what you came here fuming about, or you walk out now before I do something you'll really hate me for."
I stayed quiet for a second, jaw locked tight as I forced the fury down. "Why didn't you tell me about Sophia?" I demanded.
He didn't even flinch or look shocked. He just stared at me like I had completely lost my mind. I tried not to react to it, but the fact that he might have deliberately delayed me earlier only made the anger burn hotter.
"We are not having any discussion about that girl, Hardin," he said simply.
