I said it to the guard waiting outside the gate, my voice low and edged with warning.
He stared at me for a second too long, like he was debating whether to obey or do otherwise. I kept my temper in check, almost barely. The only thing that would've made me snap was if he'd actually tried to delay me, which was exactly what I was beginning to suspect he might. Fortunately for him, he simply bowed, turned toward the gate, and disappeared inside.
Yo, dude… I can feel Aaron getting closer. My fur's burning. He's in a lot of pain right now.
Lyon shifted uneasily inside me. For all his annoying habits, one thing he was good at was knowing when to shut up. Good, as he didn't push further when I didn't respond. The only thing filling my head was two things, getting to Aaron and... Sophia.
