Chapter 101 - An anomaly called "Kyo Evans" - Entertainment Prodigy

As soon as Kyo entered the studio, a security guard guided him to a nearby room. The moment he stepped inside, he was surprised by what he saw. There were countless buttons and pieces of equipment he had never seen before.

'I won't be able to do anything in a place like this.'

On the other side of the glass, Aoi Hoshino was singing "Idol."

Her voice was much better than Kyo had expected. He had assumed that the songs he had heard from Aoi Hoshino relied heavily on vocal processing and that hearing her sing live would be completely different, but...

"Her voice is amazing," Kyo muttered.

The bald man sitting nearby listening to Aoi sing said, "She definitely has the best voice in the industry. Her growth has been phenomenal."

After letting out a sigh, the man turned toward Kyo.

"You're Kyo Evans, the kid who wrote this song."

"Yes, that's right. And you are?"

"Luke. Luke Ooyama."

"You're half Japanese, just like me."

"Yeah, that's right. But I was born in Japan and can't speak a single word of English. Hahaha."

He laughed loudly.

"I can speak English fluently," Kyo said with a smile.

"That's impressive."

He turned back toward Aoi and asked,

"What do you think? Does her voice fit the song you wrote?"

"Absolutely. Her voice is perfect. I wrote the song with her in mind, after all. She's an idol."

"I see. You're very talented. To be honest, I don't follow your work as a writer, so I had no idea how talented you were. But not only are the lyrics excellent, the production is wonderful as well. Was this really the first song you ever produced?"

"Yes, but I studied for a few weeks."

"Weeks..." Luke muttered.

Then he burst out laughing.

"Hahahahaha! You're scary, Kyo. Really scary."

At that moment, Aoi Hoshino finished singing, and Luke spoke into the microphone.

"That was great."

Aoi Hoshino smiled broadly and turned toward the glass. As soon as she saw Kyo, she let out an excited shout, flashed a huge smile, and ran out of the recording booth.

She hurried over and grabbed Kyo's hands.

"Kyo, this is incredible! It's absolutely incredible!"

Kyo wasn't quite sure how to respond and simply said,

"Right, right."

"Luke, I want Kyo to handle the production of this song. Is that okay with you? I want this song to belong only to the two of us."

"How long have you known each other?" Kyo asked.

"Luke produced most of my songs. He also wrote some of them."

"I've known Aoi ever since her debut. Her very first song was written by me," Luke said proudly.

"But if you wanted me to work with you, why did you call him here?"

"Huh? This is his studio, of course he'd be here. Besides, he wanted to hear me sing 'Idol.' He got really excited after listening to the demo."

"I couldn't believe that a novel writer had produced that song," Luke said with an awkward smile.

"I see. I'm glad you liked it. But about this... I don't know how to use all this equipment. I produced that song on my computer."

"Don't worry, it's practically the same thing. If you want, I can stay with you and teach you. I don't have anything to do today."

Luke laughed loudly.

Aoi Hoshino, wearing a huge smile, said,

"I'm going to sing it again. Tell me what you think, Kyo."

"I already heard part of it. Your voice really is impressive."

Without saying anything else, she returned to the recording booth to sing once more.

Kyo sat down beside Luke and put on a pair of high-quality headphones. They were far better than the "special" headphones he had at home.

When Aoi started singing, goosebumps spread across Kyo's body.

Kyo was unconsciously becoming a fan of Aoi Hoshino.

Luke, sitting beside him, noticed the smile on Kyo's face and thought:

'He looks like a proud father watching his daughter. It's funny, considering he's only thirteen years old.'

Luke then repeated the words "thirteen years old" several times in his mind.

He had completely forgotten that fact.

'He's only thirteen...'

Luke continued staring at Kyo, barely paying attention to Aoi Hoshino's voice anymore.

He simply could not comprehend the anomaly known as "Kyo Evans"

Time passed. Nearly five hours went by.

Aoi sang the song over and over again.

Kyo, with Luke's guidance, had finally completed the song's mix. Luke was astonished by Kyo's speed and ability, especially considering he was basically a beginner.

Then everyone put on headphones to listen to the final version of the song.

As expected, the quality was far above average.

As he nodded his head along with the music, Luke thought things like:

"This is going to be a hit."

"This is incredible."

"This will definitely make it onto the charts. At least the Top 10."

He also found himself thinking:

"I should have bought the rights to this song."

"I wish this song were mine. It's been a while since I released a major hit."

Luke began feeling guilty for being jealous of a thirteen-year-old child.

When the song finally ended, he took off his headphones and said,

"I'm certain this song will be a success. I still can't predict how big it'll become, but I have no doubt it'll reach at least the Top 20 of the charts."

Aoi Hoshino heard that and said,

"Kyo promised me this song would reach number one on the charts. Do you believe him?"

She laughed.

Smiling, Kyo replied,

"I'm confident that will happen. What do you plan to do now? Do you want to release the audio version, or do you want to make a music video?"

Kyo was thinking about the original music video uploaded to the YOASOBI YouTube channel.

He could recreate something similar using animation. He could even contact Asuna to help produce it.

"A music video, huh?"

"I think it would be better to release the audio version as soon as possible and take advantage of the hype from the leaked version," Luke said.

"Hmmm."

After thinking carefully, Aoi Hoshino turned toward Kyo and asked,

"What do you think? I'll do whatever you think is best."

Luke was surprised by the amount of trust Aoi Hoshino had in Kyo.

After thinking for a moment, Kyo said:

"I have a plan."
