Chapter 54 Preparations

Lukas quickly logged off, packed his bags, and prepared to head to the MG headquarters. Finally, he didn't have to be a 'Gaming Lounge War God' anymore, bidding farewell to the local German gaming center he had lived in for several years.

Meanwhile, Lena followed Captain Jack Sparrow to a mysterious, fog-shrouded island. There, they found the witch Tia Dalma. This mysterious woman knew all kinds of witchcraft and seemed omniscient. Jack asked Tia to help him find the mysterious key, and in return, he gave Barbossa's cursed monkey to Tia Dalma.

Tia agreed to the trade and began to tell the story of the key and the Dead Man's Chest. Davy Jones was once a sailor who suffered and fell into depravity because he fell in love with a woman—the Sea Goddess Calypso. So, he locked his heart inside a box, the Dead Man's Chest. Whoever possessed it could control Davy Jones, become the captain of the Flying Dutchman, rule the seas, and achieve their ambition of dominating the ocean.

But the key to the Dead Man's Chest was always kept by Davy Jones himself; to get it, one had to risk boarding the Flying Dutchman. Captain Jack had a black spot on his hand; anyone with this mark would be hunted by the Kraken, Davy Jones's pet. However, as long as he stayed on land, Davy could not touch him, as Davy had an agreement that he could only come ashore once every ten years.

Tia Dalma then handed a jar of dirt to Captain Jack, instructing him to keep it with him at all times, as it would help Jack at a crucial moment. Finally, Tia Dalma began to divine, revealing the location of the Flying Dutchman to everyone.

"OK, next, we're going to find this ship," Captain Jack shrugged.

Just as Lena was about to follow Captain Jack, Tia Dalma called out to her. "Wait, I have something else to tell you. You have a few pieces of equipment that haven't revealed their original performance. Here, I can allow them to be fully displayed."

[Equipment Trait Upgrade function enabled. Items of Epic quality or higher can be awakened here by the witch Tia Dalma, allowing a certain trait to be enhanced...]

"It can actually awaken traits," Lena noted. She handed her Legendary Flintlock to Tia Dalma, and after paying ten thousand gold coins, Tia Dalma began to chant a spell. A few seconds later, a flash of light appeared.

[The Caspian King's Flintlock Pistol Special Effect Three has been enhanced: Firing speed and reload speed increased to 60%.]

The original speed was 40%, an increase of 20%. The cost of ten thousand gold coins was not very expensive, only about a thousand euros in reality. Immediately after, she handed the Legendary Scimitar to Tia Dalma for another awakening.

[The Caspian King's Scimitar Special Effect One has been enhanced: Hitting an enemy applies a crippling effect, reducing the enemy's overall speed by 55%.]

It originally reduced by 40%, an increase of 15%. It seemed that the trait values awakened each time were also random. Lena had several Epic pieces of equipment upgraded as well. After all the upgrades, her combat power increased by about 30%.

"This function is quite good. Everyone remember these coordinates. If you have Epic-grade equipment or above, you can come here to upgrade," Lena said to her stream.

Su Mucheng walked out of the small wooden house; Captain Jack had already vanished without a trace. She wondered where they would meet next time. Looking around, it was a tropical rainforest. There were level 45 crocodiles in the river for leveling up, so Lena continued her journey in this area.

It was late at night, and Matthias Engel closed his live stream and fell asleep. The next morning, he was woken up by Laura.

"Matthias, wake up and eat breakfast."

With sleepy eyes, he came to the dining table in their apartment, where there was bread, milk, and eggs. Well, the Schmidt sisters only knew how to make simple breakfasts. But Matthias was already very satisfied; after all, Maria had never asked him for grocery money.

"Matthias, do you know Director Kevin?" Maria asked as she sipped her coffee.

"Yes."

"I can understand you knowing Carl Schmidt, but Kevin is a big-name director."

"There's a saying, 'movies and games are inseparable,' the gaming world and the film and television world are largely similar."

"Since you know Director Kevin, why don't you ask him to arrange a movie role for you? Maybe you could become popular again," Maria suggested.

"I don't need to become famous that way, and besides, I know nothing about acting. If I went, I'd just be an extra."

"Even an extra is fine. Meals are provided, and there's a hundred or two hundred in wages," Laura added from the side.

Maria flicked her younger sister: "Your Matthias hasn't fallen to the point of being an extra. He's a top technician, after all. Writing a program and selling it would earn more than that, wouldn't it?"

"You're right, Maria understands me," Matthias said, gulping down milk.

Chen Ping'an was going to GAME STAR today to see how things were progressing. He and the two sisters arrived at the underground garage at the same time. Maria drove her Cayenne, taking Laura to their company, while Matthias drove his small old car to his own company in the suburbs.

Entering the office, the employees looked a bit nervous upon seeing Matthias's arrival.

"General Manager Engel, you're here," Katja Weber said, walking over in professional business attire.

"How are things with the filing?" Matthias asked.

"It's expected to be successfully filed in three days. I'm currently handling the press conference."

"Have you contacted Carl Schmidt's side?"

"Yes, Unreal Entertainment will also attend the press conference and start a live stream with our official account."

Next, Matthias went to the company's warehouse. Many assembled Game Stars and co-branded peripherals were already displayed there. Everything was just waiting for the day of the press conference.

Soon, the filing came through the next day, faster than expected. At the same time, the official websites for both companies posted updates, announcing the birth of the GS1 Game Star console.

Matthias also pushed a hot update in the game; every player who logged in could see the announcement about the Game Star. This caused quite a bit of discussion.

"Co-branded Game Star? What is this?"

"Are they trying to make money with hardware now?"

"Game Star company... first time I've heard of it."

"The press conference is the day after tomorrow. You can watch the live stream in the game too. I'll fish while watching what happens."
