Parker Tower — 7:04 PM
Peter POV:
The city still smoked.
The sun hung low behind a haze of ash and light, its rays painting the broken skyline gold. The Chitauri fleet was gone. Reduced to shards burning on the streets but the echoes of the battle lingered: the scent of ozone, the hum of emergency drones patching streets and the faint, endless wail of sirens.
Inside the reinforced glass walls of Parker Tower, the Avengers had gathered.

The Debrief
I sat at the head of the holographic table, armor stripped down to its inner frame. Even half-powered, the War Pattern Helios exoshell gave me the look of something not quite human. Dawnbringer rested on the table beside me, its head inert but warm with faint light.
Across from me sat Steve, arms crossed, his shield propped against the chair. Bruce nursed a cup of coffee that hadn't stopped shaking since the battle. Natasha scrolled through her datapad, eyes flicking up occasionally to study my facial expression. Tony, naturally, had already started talking.
"So. Let me get this straight. You built a personal power armor that could probably punch a hole through a supercarrier and an entire army of augmented supersoldiers under the guise of helping veterans and didn't tell anyone?" Deadpanned Tony.
"You never asked." I replied.
"Oh, that's cute. I ask about coffee preferences and I get Captain America Mark 2's. Great." Groans Tony.
Thor chuckled from his seat at the far end. "You mortals surprise even the gods. That armour of your mate, Gwen. Archangel of the Web forged with the fires of a celestial forge?"
I sighed, glancing at Gwen across the table. She bit her lip, trying not to laugh.
"Yeah. I mean I can make Uru. So why not make my girlfriend/fiancé a demigod?" I replied to Thor with a shrug.
The room went silent.
Every pair of eyes turned towards me.
Tony blinked twice. "...I'm sorry, the what now?"
Bruce looked up from his cup. "That's… that's not possible."
Steve frowned. "Archangel of the Web?"
I leaned back in my chair, hands raised in surrender.
"Look, it's complicated and technically still classified. Let's just say I have access to… creative metallurgy." I replied diplomatically.
Gwen snorted, actually snorted and covered her mouth.
"Creative metallurgy, he says. You built a suit worthy of gods in your factory's basement!" Gwen laughed.
Thor slammed the table in laughter, nearly cracking it. "A forge of divine creation in your workshop! Truly, Midgard outdoes itself!"
I sighed, rubbing the bridge of my nose. "I should've let Loki win."
Natasha's voice cut through the laughter. "You realize this changes the power dynamics of the entire world, right?" Her tone was even but her eyes were sharp.
"S.H.I.E.L.D., the UN, even the World Council they'll want answers. You've just shown the planet that Parker Industries can wage a war the rest of the world can't even imagine." Said Natasha.
Peter nodded, expression cooling.
"Which is why I've already locked down the Forge. Nothing leaves without my authorization, not that anything leaves from Parker Industries without my authorization. Also, no one would believe you all as I'm chalking it up as concussions and head trauma."
Steve leaned forward. "Even all of us roll with your story and I believe Natasha will also. What will you say when they ask about your everything?"
I met his gaze. My gaze was calm but unyielding. "Then they can build their own miracles. Because I don't like philanthropy on this scale."
The room went quiet again. This time with respect.
The Light Moment
Gwen stretched in her chair, glowing with the afterglow of victory. "You know, for once, we didn't almost die. Progress."
"Speak for yourself. My armor's insurance premium just hit nine digits." I joked.
"A worthy price for glory!" Yelled Thor.
"I'd rather have a nap." Sighed Bruce.
Steve smiled. "You've all earned one."
Command Broadcast — Frank
The comms light blinked. Frank Castle's voice cut through, gravelly but composed.
"All Spartan teams report success. Minimal casualties. New York's secure. Standing by for post-op orders, Commander Parker."
"Good work, Frank. Begin sweeps for stragglers and infrastructure support. You're now officially the most popular man in Manhattan."
"That's new."
The line clicked off.
---
The tower was quiet now, only the hum of distant generators and the rhythmic pulse of the holographic map lighting their faces. The team sat together, no longer strangers brought by circumstance but a force tempered in fire and light.
I stood, gazing out at the city.
"We stopped an invasion. But this was just the opening move. Someone helped Loki build that portal. Someone wanted us tested." I said.
Gwen joined me at the window, her reflection flickering in the glass.
"And you think it's only the beginning?" Gwen asked.
"I know it."
The skyline stretched before us. Scarred but shining, the first night of a world forever changed.
