Null invested, asked directly, "Then, what are Abilities?"
Ron looked at them and spoke, relieved to see them not fighting over each other at least physically. "Abilities are a part of you." He looked at Null using the rear view mirror, "Or become a part of you." He said giving a glance towards Midas.
Both boys caught the gazes.
Null understood how that explanation applied to him, so Midas understood how the other explanation applied to him.
Then Ron continued, "But, that is only the piece of what they are. So let me ask you both a simple question, what are the difference between a made and born Meta?"
Null pondered on the matter than a glint appeared in his eyes, he raised his head about to speak but.
"Is it that, made Metas start off with quite weak abilities and born Metas with potent abilities, is the unbalance the difference?" Midas spoke, oozing smugness, having beat Olive to asking the driver first.
"No." Ron responded, as Midas's smugness vanished.
Null smirked as he then answered as his faced turned more thoughtful, "Can it possible be involved with why it seems i don't have an Ability, since, you keep implying my parents had one, putting me in as a born meta, yet then why have I not seen any signs of it?" At the end it seemed he was asking himself that question.
"Yes, it is involved with the reason your quite prone to a beating." Ron said as Null looked unamused opposite easily said about Midas.
"The thing is, the Emperor wanted a structure revolving around strength." Ron said.
"But, than why does money have a weight in things still." Midas asked.
"It actually barely does." Ron said that with a dismissive tone, "The currency only carries weight in minor planets, specifically monitored and controlled by the military, but planets under the rule of the empire, is a completely different story."
The boys looked at each other and back at Ron, they couldn't think of a world where the strength of one self could matter so much, a world where one cared for money barely.
They also understood they would be destroyed in an unfamiliar environment like that, where they couldn't traverse through danger and situations without the use of hiring, allying and negotiating through the want and need of money that others have.
Then Ron continued on, "The Emperor wanted the people without, cybernetics and abilities, to feel less smaller. He did this by restricting the information about Meta-Lineages, which if i remember correctly." Ron paused thinking then snap his fingers as he let go of the steering wheel as he held it with his knees relaxed.
"Now i remember, basically this is the stages of meta development, Artificial Meta-Humans, where someone is made in to a meta, then Dormet Meta-Humans, where a artificial meta were to have a child they would have it locked in them till they access itand, if his descendants keep on accessing the abilities, the easier it gets to access the ability, till they born with it from the get go, those are Meta-Humans, True Meta-Humans."
Null took the info in well, "So I'm a dormant meta, that explains it."
Midas still felt like something isn't right with this.
Why did Olive's relative choose now to tell him this rather than when he was younger, actually why did this man not just take the kid with him from the beginning.
"There still is a catch isn't there?" Midas asked.
Ron looked at the boy then sighed, "Let's say it's better he accesses one of his parents abilities than the other."
Null perked up, his face was pure curiousity, he wasn't even bothering to conjure up a question for his uncle.
He knew when his uncle started talking vaguely, there was no point, he was in the military, his been trained to be quiet.
Then Midas was sort of satisfied with this then choose to set the driver back on track, "You told us the development of Meta-Humans, not what meta abilities are?"
Ron, was puzzled for a second then realized his bludder, "Uhh, ya ya ya, I see what you mean, I'm not the best with this philosophical stuff."
He than cleared his throat and began once more, "The difference between a Artificial Meta-Human and a Dormat Meta-Human is...
"Need."
Null looked at the gorilla Infront of him, invested once more, "What do you mean by need?"
Ron, looked at the road as he spoke, "when a Dormat Meta-Human wants to unlock there abilities they need to be in a situation where their need of something spikes, while Artificial Meta-Humans must have a want, when they acquire a ability."
"And that need being?" Null asked.
"Anything." Ron answered with a grin to the dumbfounded boys, "That also applies to want."
"So do I need a specific want?" Midas asked.
"Yes, at the moment you acquire the ability, that want must be the center of your thoughts." Ron replied, "The broader the want the weaker it is
"And me?" Null asked.
"That's a bit different, Lil Olive." Ron said with a little itch at his nape, "You need a spike of need, like at your peak of starvation and close to death, or when falling from the sky even bleeding out to death."
"So he needs to be in mortal danger and nearing death." Midas with a intrigue that made Null shiver.
"No you just have to be in one of those situations." Ron said correcting the suspicious Midas, then whispering, "Even though it might be best his in both situations."
Midas's smugness returned stronger than before.
Null finally spoke, "What do you mean!? 'it might be best' and, you stop smiling!" Null said directly at the Midas.
"I don't have a face though."
"You know what I mean!!" Null turned his neck toward his uncle, snapping to him fast enough to cause a ache in his own neck, "And you!! If what your telling me is true than why have i not unlocked my ability?! Think about it I fell from a building hitting pipes as i fell."
Ron, coughed in his hand and spoke, "You've already taped into it."
Silence fell as, Null's eyes widen.
He sat back behind Ron.
"Let's go test it out, now now now now." Null said as his excitement bubbled up though his face stayed plain.
Ron smiled, surprised with the new turn of tone, "Not now Lil Olive, were on the clock, later for sure." Than Ron as he said this, his stomach slowly sank.
Then his seat jerked forward as Olive kicked the chair, as he repeated the word 'Now'.
Ron's smile disappeared slowly as, he felt a different emotion bubble up, irritation.
This kept up for an hour.
Ron looked at the road as his eyes twitched, red.
Then broke irritation evident, "Stop! I said no, so No!"
Midas looked concerningly at the driver.
Then Null slowly got closer to the driver's seat, "How much do you love this car." It wasn't even a question.
"You wouldn't dare." Ron said his face slowly pailing.
Then Null paused, then lunged, his teeth into the car seat.
Ron paled, Midas recoiled to the door, flatting his body to it in surprised.
"Fine!!" Ron said paling as he steered off the road.
